It's nice to have a small pocket to carry registration and insurance papers, along with a phone etc... I have one on my Suzuki and the paint is still perfect. It does require a little more time and effort to keep it clean, but as long as you take extra care to make sure dust and sand don't accumulate under it, there is no problem.

I took it off and had to do some serious polishing to get all the scratches out of the paint. Decided to leave it off. The factory paint is awfully soft and easily damaged.
