Getting the bike set up, organizing all the riding gear, etc. I'd had my long haul pillion off the bike for the last few rides, so it was on a table. So went to put it on the shelf next to the stock pillion and stock rider seat. Thought I'd take a gander at the bottom bits, side-by-side. Long haul pillion vs stock pillion.
Well, low and behold, the rear bracket that's gets bolted to the fender didn't look straight to me. So gave it a little twist by hand, and the thing is LOOSE! That bracket is only riveted to the plastic bottom of the pillion seat "pan", and one of the rivets has "opened" the hole in the seat pan.
Now I got the long haul rider and pillion seats from MADDS.com quite some time ago...like almost 2 years. Going to give it a shot as to whether they'll cover it or not. Bottom line, whether you have the stock pillion or the separate long haul pillion, give it a look. So there's a lot of lateral load on those things. Especially if your passenger get's "shifty" on long rides, etc.
