Bought a 2010 SE for a third bike last month. Got new shocks on order with fast eddy (the best!) but need a different screen. the supplied screen (came with SE package) is fine to 60 then it gets noisy and buffets too much. Now, my main bike is a Tiger 1050 and those bike need a MadStad, plain and simple-and they are the bomb.

It seems like the stock screen is the correct height for me (5' 11", 32" inseam) and Cee B says their screens are wider. My 1050 experience tells me that won't work but I'd like some feedback from those who have gone that route. Maybe it does. I've tried the stock lowers on and off and there is a very slight difference.

Other than that-I like the bike.

I'm 6 ft and have a 30 inch inseam.I bought a C Baileys windscreen for my SE which was two inches taller and two inches wider than the stock SE windscreen, and works very well for my riding needs. All the C Baileys screens are two inches wider than the stock SE screen,so it's the height your concerned about, and they give you a way to check that so you order the correct height that best fits your application when you order it.The screens come in the same height as the stock screen,or you can order a screen two,or four inches higher, again, depending on your height and or body length. [long or short waisted] The trick is,you wanna be able to see over the top of the windscreen with just a tilt of your head, when need be. Dave!!!

I agree about seeing over the top. Clearview Shields says you should be able to see the road 50 ft ahead over the screen, assuming you're not slouching. I'm 5'9, 32" inseam and the stock height Cee Bailey works great. I also have the Triumph lowers and the combination does a pretty good job of stopping the buffeting.

Got it. THX. I understand the measuring part. Should have added: I ride with a full face all the time. Does that have any bearing on the replys?
THX again.

Since you have a full face helmet,I suspect that all you'd need is just the two inch wider screen, staying with the same height as the standard screen that came on the SE.But if it were me,I'd still buy the two inch higher screen to help smooth out the buffeting. But that's me.So it's still your decision to make. Dave!!

King... I have the exact measures as Dave. I ride with a National Cycle Chopped. The top of the screen is to about the tip of my nose and it is about 22" wide while the CB is at least 2" wider. I was on 95 doing 80-85mph the other night and all I felt was a ruffling in my shirt at the shoulders. That said I also have a GIANT set of lowers that I had custom made. So I don't get that turbulent air that runs up my extended legs and collides with air coming over the top of the screen making for a mini tornado between the head and the screen.
Buffeting is also the result of existing conditions and where you are riding. You can be on a narrow tree lined byway and the trees protect you so you can do 70 and feel nothing. Or you can be on A1A here in FL with the ocean currents crossing your path and you are gonna feel some buffeting at 60.
A guy that Dave and I know has the big CB and he is looking through it all the time. He doesn't t mind it at night but I personally feel that restricts my field of vision and I don't want to look through a third piece of plexi since I wear a full face and glasses.
IMHO I would get the wide CB and high enough to barely see over the top. With the wide screen you also avoid the wind that comes around the screen and can batter your helmet too. So wide is good. I don't particularly mind the side wind and it feels good in the FL heat.
The 1050 buffeting is really a whole different situation cuz of the riding position. Your legs are less extended and you are more forward leaving less air to swirl between your helmet and the screen.
I have done tons of research on buffeting and swapped out more than a couple of screens so in the end it is about your personal riding style, how you sit, type of bike, feet position and more. Good luck and ride safe.
