Any one else suffered from the protective covering of the standard front forks pitting and flaking off? On my front fork the protection has peeled off right at the top near the chrome collar. Any way the good news is I took it to my my local dealer last Saturday and logged my warrenty claim and yesturday yes Ssturday I was notiied the new fork where in stock. Now beat that for service.

With 7,000 miles on my TB, I've not suffered any issue either. I did my spring detail on the bike, road to my dealer for new gloves and they were laughing because my TB looks cleaner than their showroom model

Just learnt another Tbird from my dealership has trhe same problem. The owner hadn't noticed but after seeing mine the guys inspected his bike and spotted the problem. Now that is service.

Glad you mentioned this Andy, i've noticed the same is happening to mine, just on one side. The worrying thing here though is that is it just going to happen again if replaced under warranty.

Same here water seems to have got under it and caused some discolouration .

Ill get the dealer to look at it and the blemishes on the tank and ask why the stock wheels are not protected and ruined by UK weather no matter what you do ect ect ect ..

Good job the bike overall is fantastic or Id ask for my money back.

my stock wheels seem to be part laquered and part not. the coated part is on the insides of the cutouts between the hub and the rim, why not just coat the whole wheel?
they do polish up well but it takes ages and sore hands, just to need done a couple of weeks later

Tell me about it... Was down in Cornwall for Easter week... Rained solidly for 1st two days. The rain must have washed off the protective polish because within 3 days the wheels were white. This saturday, 5 hours cleaning on just the wheels.

My forks are just starting to go at the top,
Back of my left hand mirror is also pitted,
Got some marking on the wheels but not serious,
I'll see my dealer Saturday about warranty,

BTW - ordered long TORS, should be fitted next week,

Mine are shot. The cure is the Triumph standard repair fee of £300 for chrome lower folks. Like the wheels that are the standard Triumph repair fee of £300 for each chrome wheel.

I purchased the chrome forks straight up as I did not believe it looked like a finished product with the standards.

If you are purchasing a lot of extras to get the machine to where you think it should be as standard then I dont think it is such a cheap bike after all.

Likewise if it wasn't for the over all high performance of the machine you would be purchasing something else

Your right . Luckily I didnt want a cheap bike I wanted a Triumph hehehe . God this thing is going to end up costing me more than a HD.

tut
if it wasnt for the joy (cough) of polishing the naked alu wheels for hours at a time what would i do when its monsoon time?

i quite like the idiosyncrasies of the differing metal finishes,
however on the "create your triumph" i think they should deduct a proportion of the cost of the stock items and you purchase that created bike. however i did hear from a member here that they could get 25 percent off all accessories purchased within 24 hours of buying the bike. from their dealer. that reduces the "fixes" and makes it more palatable

I know what you mean...from memeory they are almost AU$22K, ride away mine cost closer to 27. I'm glad I went with the chrome wheels and sliders though; the coating on my 03 Speedy's rear wheel didnt look too good and the chrome makes cleaning the thing much easier. Still it is just about as cheap as an entry level softail but does everything better

Strangley enough I spend more time cleaning my 'Bird than my mate does cleaning his Road King...but I dont like the smell of lemon pledge

Just to let you know the repairs have taken place. The delay was down too me, not the dealer. I was given a spanking new Tiger to play with as a loan bike.To say it took some getting use too after a biid is a under statement, but very good all the same.

Had the same problem. dealer fitted new chrome version for a very nominal fee £25. Could have had orginal coated type at no cost.

If you kept the stock forks I would still be tempted to have them SUPER-FAST-BLACK Powder coated

Had mine in today for it's first service and reported the fork problem. They just need to get worse so the dealer's picture shows them up better, then it shouldn't be a problem and will be replaced with the chrome lowers.Mine also had a rear shock recall but triumph don't have the replacements as yet.Happy with the response and service so far.

No Leethal I did not get your reply, not sure how it works either.
I was just curios if you had an issue with the rear shocks or if anyone else has ?

My fault mate, I should have replied by PM instead of the Admin email, this thing needs handlebars and six gears for me.

Regarding the rear shocks, I wasn't aware of any problem(other than a recall notice when I checked on the Triumph site), the service fella informed me after he had done my first service , he said that Triumph reckon the damping is wrong and will replace both the shocks once stock becomes available. My bird is 2011 spec.

Cheers,Lee
