Installed the Triumph Paint Protection Kit on my '13 TBird today and I have to say it's amazingly invisible. In fact, as each piece was laid down, squeegeed and dried off, it got harder to place the next piece because the finished pieces were so hard to see. My paint is blue marble haze, which is pretty dark, so I can't say how invisible the film will be on lighter colors.

The only issue I had with the kit was that the application fluid (a dilute soap) spray bottle was stupidly labeled with an uncoated paper label which started to shed as soon as it got wet, which was immediately. I tossed the bottle in a plastic sandwich bag and secured it at the neck and had no further problems.

I also did this in a fully enclosed garage with the floor wetted down to keep down any dust. If you're good at putting screen protectors on phones, this is basically the same thing.

The kit covers just 5 high-risk areas on the tank, which is just as well since the heavily curved areas in the front are a real challenge to get smooth.

Is it a Triumph part? Any chance of taking a photo? to see what it turns out like. I used a similar 3m product on My Forks and Tripple Tree and it is pretty hard to see.The No5 one is the piece that would interest me most.

Never knew it existed. Please advise if it is a Triumph part and number. Thanks.

I'd rather get the 'decent factory paint' kit. What is the part number for that?

Wish I had known about this before, my gloss black storm marks & scratches very easily. Few stone chips on the front sides of the tank too.

This is interesting as after 8000 kms certain parts of my black color at the tank site start to get blunt or toneless.
Especially on the side where my thights have contact to the tank. I think parts 1 and 2 of the drawing will be perfect to fit there.
Maybe I can polish that again to brighten it up and then put the protectors on.
Anymore experiences with the kit?

Best Elmar

Been toying with this one myself - there's a guy just down the road from me who charges very little over the kit price to fit - I was looking at some of his bikes and car the other day and was impressed.

The non Triumph product in the UK is:

Here's a photo. Had to get just the right angle for the light to catch the edge of the film; follow the yellow arrows...

PapaSmurf.
Thanks very much for going to the trouble to get the detail . Well done and as you say you gotta look hard to find the edge. That color also looks pretty impressive. Pity it wasn't Red as "Red ones go faster" just ask those boys from the UK

Gotta admit, it'd be nice to have that on the tank. I'd like to snug up my knees to the tank when riding, but knowing the water-based paint is easily prone to wear I keep a little bit of room between my jean-clad knees and the tank. Sure seems like this would address that problem.

Thanks but can't take credit for any more than paying for it (and having good taste, of course).

The red is scary, pure evil, like it's painted with blood.

yeah they were my first thoughts of the red haze too. I admit I like it deep red too.
'and If I am to be more honest, I have always preferred the blue haze (mind you I always thought they were darker in colour too) and I think they were released here in oz in 2011 (I think that's right) and they were virtually sold out before they arrived.

I have purchased the Triumph Paint Application Kit A9930332.

When I opened the kit the small spray bottle for the Application Fluid was empty.

I phoned the local Triumph dealer and explained the situation to him and he told me that the ingiedience of the fluid is on the inside lining of the bottle, and that when you fill the bottle with water it self mix's???

Can anyone who has used the Triumph paint Protection Kit tell me if this was the case with the Application Fluid that they recieved with their kit?

Your dealer is correct. The bottle only looks empty but it contains a thin film of dried soap; pretty clever, actually.

i know this is a terribly old post, but was wondering how this kit works when bike is washed and waxed? any issues with it coming off? can you wax right over this thing?
