Ivan, how comfy is the stock seat? looks as though in your pic that you changed the seat. by the way the only thing i dont like about the rockets is the little pipe within the giant pipe, to me it just looks odd, i wish triumph would make at lest the back of it bigger and do what ever it takes on the inside of the silencers to reach emission standards wicked looking bike though

currently on a slow Harley but will have another Triumph eventually

It might go as hard as a modified T'bird.....but don't try to corner. Anyway, Rockets are for Space Cadets... I wonder how long the tyres will last???

Apparently its a bigger pain in the arse than swapping a rear on a TBird. Another mate was quoted 2.5 hours plus the tyre. I have never done one so not too sure on the procedure.

That is the stock seat, I thought the same as you but the standard seat is really good so no issues at the moment. Rode down to London and put on 650 miles over a couple of days with no problems.

Settling in to the bike well - need to lay another 1,000 miles or so to get in sync with the beast.

Hey Josey welcome in I saw a pic of your storm on the rocket forum How would you compare the handling between the storm and a rocket on a twisty road?

I may be able to answer that one for you intimidator ,, I used to own a T bird 1600 and a rocket , when we went riding there were 4 of us regular ,one rocket ,, a victory , a harley road king , and whatever i took out . when we hit the twisties or even the straights , it was always the same Rocket at the front , Tbird could outrun the victory and the harley . with ease but not the rocket.

Eairlier this year i was at a place in NSW , diamond valley i think its called , anyway i needed a tyre , we had a very spirited ride through the hills , and were 3 rockets all up each others asses , I needed a tyre , so at the Triumph dealer i left my rocket there , and they gave me the storm to loan , for a few hours , going back through the twisties , i could'nt catch the roc,ets , on my own rocket were stuck together like the proverbial sh!t to the blanket .

Th rocket handles VERY VERY well , if you have the confidence to push it ,

I agree, a buddy of mine has a 2011 roadster and I have had the bike for extended times while doing work on it. The first times I took it thru the twisties I did not expect much (as he rides very conservatively, except on straightaways) I was very impressed. It has continued to impress me.

Things being equal, say, me riding against myself, the R3 roadster will walk the T-bird every time, straight or curved roads.

My buddy is pretty much fixed on going fast in a straight line. When ever possible racing against HD guys. thats his thing and there seems to be no shortage of challangers either.

I agree completely. I had a 2011 Rocket too and I loved it. It handled the Tail of the Dragon just fine and went like a cat in a room full of rocking chairs. The TBird is just easier to handle in normal, slow traffic. If I toured a lot I would still have the Rocket.

It . No fear, scrubbing the floorboards. Sent the papers to purchase the Storm via overnight today. Its mine tomorrow bt then I have a 5 hour drive to go pick it up.

I named my Rocket The Blustery Hag. Need to think about naming the Storm

Hmmmmm, thats a tough one. Totally different concepts but Triumph has the Rocket engineered to handle like a lot smaller bike. When coducting Triumph demo days the Thunderbird and Storm handled crisply but not like a sport bike at all. The Rocket responds to throttle very well and rips up any road if you have the nerve to use its power curve. It took me three years aboard to fully appreciate the Rocket and what it does. I like the Storm, it seems a bit more nimble probably because it weighs a little less and the difference in tire size. I will take quite a bit of riding the Blue Ridge Parkway at lower speeds and then some as fast as I dare go rides like the Cherohala Skyway ride to completely evaluate the Storm. I bet its going to be fun though.

Leethal... what kind of tune are you running with your gutted cat? How is the bike responding to the mod?
