Well, I done did it. I bought riser spacers from Mag10 over at the other board (great guy, made them up for me right away and mailed them before ever getting any money from me (now if my damn check would just show up )) The spacers gave me just enough height (well actually I'm still a half inch too low but it works) to put a broomstick bar in.

At full stop the plastic switch housings just touch the tank at full stop but that's only an issue in walking maneuvers really. It's more than ridable in it's current form.

Now, as for ridable.... HOLY CRAP!!! It never dawned on me what a difference this would make. Because of my size I don't have to lean forward much at all but the rotation forward and shorter bars makes the whole experience much different. The bike has a feel like a hot rod, the steering is very quick, I am now nearly in a standard riding position and can easily lift off the seat for bumps in the road. My feet are angled back up so my heals don't drag in corners as much as they did before. Of course that has now thrown off my feel for corners and I'm having to relearn cornering with this new configuration. It is definetely something I need to spend a bit of time with.

Just thought I'd share the pics with you all... (oh, and the one mirror is simply because I was running out of daylight and wanted to get some time on the bike before nightfall.)

Looks good Thatch, but what i noticed that i never saw b4 was your hog killer license plate ! Love it!
But yeah, i like that too....the slight forward lean is best IMO, but with my Tbars it's the opposite. i like it too, as it's a different flavor thats also good, but it's not my fav flavor.
You may what to put some more spacers on the risers tho if you can because if the housings are that close, if you ever drop the bike even at a standstill, the rubber mounted risers will allow the bars to move and put a dent in the tank. i can tell you right now the tank is likely to cost a grand, as i checked them for my speedy and it was around $700 a few years back, and the Tbird is surely going to be a few bills more. So careful when cutting it that close. One incident where you forget the kickstand isn't down or some such thing and you could be out a grand.

Excellent. They looks fantastic and more importantly I think the ride position for the taller guys would be a vast improvement.

Bugger I rushed in and bought the Thunderbike 1.5" T-bars. Nice bars but the same position as the stockers ...

Thanks for the compliments guys. They have been fun to play with. I'm not sure I like the bar end mirrors on the broomstick and the turn signals are a bit uncomfortable to reach because of my wrist angle, but all in all the riding position is really nice. I hope to get a nice distance ride on it soon so I can see what time in the saddle will be like in that position.

Thanks for adding the rise pic mag. Honestly they show up more in that pic than they do in person. The finish is pretty much the same and you just don't notice them there at all. I'm quite pleased with them.
