This weekend broke the headlight lens from my Tbird Storm.
Where do I buy the original lens and how to replace?

If it is the same as a speedtriple there is a band that runs around the shell held with a little cross head screw at the bottom. Undo the screw and remove the band the lens will fall out, unplug the connectors and that's it. As it's a fairly standard size a replacement unit should be available quite easily and cheaply, a genuine triumph unit will cost.

Be prepared to PAY - Big Time for a replacement.

Don't know about other places around the world, but here in Oz there is no alternative, other than OEM - at A$400.00!!!
I know; I've also broken one. I now run with a headlight protector; and also on the Auxiliary lights!

Bike Bandit, at Link , lists it as part number 1397169, $99USD. They show two listings, depending on market (right or left dip, I believe), although oddly, both come back to the same part number.

It might be a worthwhile option to look at changing the whole light out for a billet headlight. Heaps on E Bay around the $150-$200 range.

This is what I did: Link
I brought two for my Storm. Fits perfectly. Only had to splice the parking/pilot light into the angel eye connector. Cheaper, brighter, and looks way cooler than stock.

I tried to fill the compatibility list and says that this model is not compatible with Tbir Storm. Now I'm in doubt

Here are the pics. The one on the left is the replacement off e-bay. One the right is the OEM original. The replacement is 10mm taller.

Thanks for this post BizRider. I ordered the lens assembly form the site you posted and it arrived yesterday. Today, it got installed on my 1600 and it was almost a straight swap. I had to bend one part of the ring up a little to slide the thicker lens in but after the snap springs were on, it looks great and also, IMO it has a much better light dispersion than the original. Now I just have to decide if I'm going to hook the "Halo Ring" up to the parking light switch or the aux light switch on the handlebars. I only used the parking light once at a bike night in Ft. Myers and at least 10 "OTHER" bike riders kept stopping to tell me that I had left my lights on. I would tell them that it was parking lights and they just looked at me like I was from another country. After awhile, it became a chore to keep describing parking lights so I turned it off, had the bike over 3 years now and only used the parking light once but I can see that I'll get a lot more enjoyment from the ring around the headlight.

Hi Eddy,

It's still daylight down here in South Florida but I did mention to my wife that I will be adjusting the light after dark so will try to post something with a picture tomorrow (if it doesn't rain)

Awesome! Glad it worked out for you. I think the obvious way is to hook them up is to the parking lights. You can then order the light control assembly from FastEddy and just let them run in parking light mode during the day. Then, to turn on the lights just toggle the high-beam and you're back to normal.

In my case, since I have a Storm, I needed the dual headlight assembly ( Link ), however Eddy told me they were on back order, so I opted to come up with my own solution.

I added a relay controlled by the aux switch. The relay interrupts the power to the headlights, leaving just the parking lights on. This also helps when starting the engine since all the power from the battery is not wasted on the headlights.

Oh! By the way: After running with the new headlights for a while, I noticed some humidity inside the lens. This was strange since I haven't been riding in the rain so I was puzzled as to why there was trapped condensation. I disassembled the lens noticed that the condensation felt rather oily. I figured it was due to some manufacturing residue that was evaporating inside the lens since they really get hot. I wiped the inside lens and re-assembled everything. I noticed that the rubber seal that came with the lens did not have drain holes, so I swapped them out for the OEM since those seems to have good drainage. I hope that helps to evaporate the condensation.

Hi, Took the Bike out last night just after dark to see how it looked on the road and took a couple of pictures of the high and low beam. I used 2 locations, one on a dirt road and one on a paved one. It had just stopped raining so the roads were still wet and didn't show as much light as they would if they were dry.

In my picture album there is a couple of pictures of the stock headlight on this same dirt road so you can see the difference in the dispersal of the light beam.

I like the look and think the light is brighter so I think I'll keep it.
