They come with a rubber ring that I haven't used and the throttle will slowly back off with the vibration of the bars as you travel along but with the ring on I guess it will hold tighter and not slip back, but may be harder to throttle off quickly. It does the job great, was not expensive and you can take it off and put it in your pocket when you don't want it on the bike.
