Last April I was retrenched.

Last April I ordered my Thunderbird.

Last April I ordered all the accessories.

In October I received the bike along with *some* of the accessories.

In dribs and drabs the accessories kept coming.

In January I got a new job.

And today I have just come in from the garage where I have been fitting the very last ordered accessory - the chrome luggage rack.

Stan

(and on Monday the bike goes in to have the drizzle on the snizzle fixed)

Thanks Birdy - but I spoke too soon.

Went in to work today - and at 11:00 all hands meeting.

Company has gone into administration - all staff let go - I may see my holiday pay and salary - in 3-4 months!

I can relate to that. The start-up company I have spent the last 3+ years working for has run out of funding so I am on another practice retirement.

I am going to take my time and spend the summer doing various things around the house and taking several road-trips on the Tbird.

Thatch - I might make it down to NC yet!

Well the reason for your availability sucks, but I'll welcome the ride.

Hang in there Stan, I went through a couple of those. No fun at all, but each time brought me something better eventually.

That's right. Looking for work is a PITA, but often leads to bigger and better things. I started a whole new career after my first "practice retirement" in 1990 that turned out to be more lucrative and more enjoyable.

Personally, I'm at a stage of life where I don't need to work (kids gone, house paid off, etc.) as long as my wife works, but she wants to take up gardening full-time. Go figure

If I were you and economically independed (hope that went right) I'd take few months off and think what I allways wanted to do or achieve. My long last dream is to be travelling motorcycle test driver/journalist but as I picked a career as an electrician, that would take enormous mount of education to get the papers for the job. Of course those articles would have to been written in my native language and that makes even more impossible as there's not so many finnish motorcycle releases.

I know that this is sort of a cliche but I write it anyway because I don't know anything else in english that suites your situation. When one door closes, another one opens. I Hope everything turns allright.
