| | Posted : 01 Aug 2013 - 16:35 Post title : Storm Pulley | | | I have never liked the grey rear pulley on my Thunderbird and couldn't justify the price of the chrome pulley. When browsing the bay I found a Black rear pulley from the storm and won the auction at a good price.
I just got round to fitting it yesterday.
I have been working on bikes for 15 years and never had a bike as difficult to get the rear wheel in and out. I dont know if it was just me but I can do a Race bike wheel and sprocket change in about 2 minutes but it took me ages to do this yesterday. And then I got caught in a down pour riding it home from my tuners garage who had a lift.
Anyway let me know what you think.
Mark.

Thanks. I am considering swingarm covers but can't decide if it would look better in Black or Chrome.

Looked great. I just never got around to it. As to wheel removal, yep, it's a bitch. You'll get better at it tho. Last time it was a breeze compared to times before. The tricks are 1-use bungee cords to hold the pulley/hub assembly to the wheel, 2- position the wheel as good as possible and lower the bike a bit at a time, then stop and reposition things, slip the caliper bracket and pulley on as it becomes easiest as you lower it bit by bit stopping every so often. 3- i cant emphasize this enough....go slow and access the situation as you go and think it thru carefully. trying to get it over with results in sweaty frustration and major swearing ! Once lowered to where all things are in place and the holes for the axl are lined up well then you're home.

And it was still just as much a bitch the second time round! The pads came out of the spring retaining clips and were a pain to get back in.
And don't even get me started on the belt alignment as I think that's been done to death!
