Got a cracked glass on mine so using this as an excuse to find a more classic looking replacement. I can't find a america light anywhere. Any one know of another type that will fit? Don't want to fit twin lights.

I think it was Ditch that used a HD light. Looked good and wasn't a great deal of money if I remember right. I'm pretty sure he will see this thread and let you know.

Hi,

If you scroll through to page 2 you will see my thread named "Conversion Part 2" and you will see a simplified conversion from, the "Silly little Headlight" over to a proper 7'' headlight, and yes I used a Pattern part made for the Harley, got it off "Fea Bay", then made up a new mount for it, as i have said before, very cost effective and easy to change over, No problem at all !!

Personally i just feel, it looks a whole lot better on that sweet ride, than the one Bloor stuck on !!

I also looked all over the country for a second hand America 7" unit, but I had No luck in that dept.

Whilst your at it, give your local Triumph dealer a ring, "but be warned", before doing this....... Sit down with a Stiff Drink, and ask the price of a Brand new America headlight unit, cause your in for a shock !!!

If you still having read through that thread want my help, just PM me, and i would gladly help any way i can.

Cheers Ditch.

Does the 7" light work better than the stock T-Bird light?

Since fitting the 7" HD clear light lens with the H4 bulb, the answer would be.... Yes, there is a noticable difference, over the other unit.

Cannot go into it technically what the exact differences are, without doing a side by side comparison test of course, but it is does seem to throw more light out, which in turn is gives more visibility in the dark, compared with the smaller unit.

But, that is Not the point of me changing the light over, as previously stated, I just hated that "Stupid little light" and wanted a more balanced light for the size of the bike!!

For an America or Speedmaster light, you might try posting a WTB in the classifieds on bonnevilleamerica.com.

Look on fleabay for a bates type headlight, there are plenty listed. You might have to get a little adaptor made to fit it correctly but should get everything done for less than a ton.

Mick . . . Keep the rubber side down!!
