Rick, from Triumph Australia take heed of this...Went down to Dandenong to get some replacement springs for the rear brakes..None in stock they said and none in Australia, will take 4 to 6 weeks to get them over,(Captain Cooks boat i think) ..Not very happy..Even the workshop didnt have any..They are Brembo brakes and i went to all the bikes shops and there are that many of that brand but different and i just gave up..Running without them now..Should explain a bit more about the springs..They are the ones that supposedly stop the rattling..There staff there couldnt hae been more unhelpful..The reply was that is what Triumph Aust. is like.everyone is complaing about lack of spares over the counter..Not really very happy at all..Dont ruin a good brand of bike by poor after market supplies.

Try one of the bigger UK or US dealers, airfreight four or five days. The service is substandard, so they force us to buy out of the country when we would prefer to support local.

Does sound crackers if you want to promote the brand its got to be through service as well as bike sales. Makes you wonder if anyone at Triumph has their finger on the pulse.

Let me know if you still want them I could send you some over from here, or go to World of Triumph and see how much they will charge you. Real shame you get shit service like that, and for a great product too. We tend to get spoilt with our local dealer, top notch.

Are these the ones ?

yep there the ones..They want $ 24 aus dollars here for the set, which is a rip off also..Asked around some of the dealers here and they said dont worry about putting them back in..Took the bike for a quick run and no overheating or any other probs so will probably leave it at that..Fancy not having that spare part in stock down here..Thanks for that offer anyway

I've got to ask, what happened to the original ones? they normally last the life of the bike.

the two little lugs had worn or broken and as you know replacing pads is a bit fiddly without having to worry about the spring moving around, which these little ears prevent it doing..But yeah they should last more than 40ks

Hi Greg
This is really uncanny. I experienced EXACTLY the same problem when I took mine off to check the Brake Pad Thickness at 10K, And Yep none in the country. To make things worse I cant budge the Brake Pad Retaining pin, it appears to be frozen solid into the Calliper , ( That's really great after 10K) so I had to order one of those also in anticipation of the next time I do a tyre change I will remove the Calliper and get the frozen Brake Pad Retaining pin out. Both parts arrived today and cost me A$57. which in my opinion for such pissy little parts that's an absolute rip off.( But then Beggars cant be Choosers Eh)

I guess the good this is the info you supplied about leaving them out. Which is a real option

the retaining pin comes out easily..Use a 4 inch nail or whatever and insert it in the pin retainer (looking from the outer)and punch it thru..The part that youre seeing from the outer is not the actual pin,,thats inside it..try it

Those pads are not exclusive to Triumph they are EBC FA209's and are fitted to many other bikes, I am sure the retaining springs can be found cheaper.

Try sending this lot an email, they might sell the spring a bit cheaper.

Splinters in my arse sitting on the fence on this one Greg. Not sure we can expect Peter Stevens to carry every single part that we may or may not need. I agree it is frustrating when you can't just get the bit you want, but we here in Aus being such a small market cannot expect the same level of service as a larger market like the UK or US.

It's a shame, but Triumph sell bikes, parts and accessories to make money, not friends.

I have used Peter Stevens a few times now. I found they usually over estimate delivery times and then after the initial disapointment, i'm happy when the stuff turns up early.

It's the sign of the times nowadays. We need to shop around on everything and weigh up the part cost, the delivery cost and the delivery delays to calculate the actual best deal.

Good luck getting the parts

Cheers Smitty
