Well, I've been meaning to do this for some time, and I finally pulled the trigger...

1./ Slotted upper belt guard.

Had holes drilled through the outer face of the guard. Now off to the chrome shop to be re-chromed so the inner edge of the holes are chrome and don't rust. Also will be fitting lower chrome belt guard as well (unmodified.....for now).

2./ new mount for 7" HD head light

New mounting post machined to accommodate 8mm bolt (also being chromed). As you can see from the second photo, the hole to mount the headlight has been moved up 1/2" and moved forward 1/2". Felt that placement would be more of the look I'm going for.

I'm sure this isn't everyone's "Cuppa" but I can't wait to get these parts back on the Bird.
I look forward to all your comments, good or bad
will post pics once parts are fitted back on the bike! might be a while though......not to keen on the sub-zero temperatures

oh ya almost forgot, Had these parts machined by a 78 year old lad, who's been doing this work all his life. He gave me a tour of his shop in his barn in his back yard.....what a paradise!!! all his machines are from the early 1900's some of which cam from the Detroit armouries. And all still work like a charm!!!!

I think you will find that push forward with the light is the wrong direction. The Harley light already sits fairly well forwards and out of the trees. I went the other way with my light to drag it back inside the trees and deeper into the forks. But as you say it's all about the look you are after and to each their own. I look forward to seeing the finished product either way.

Mods: Chrome wheels, chrome forks, chrome water manifold, chrome switch blocks, front axle covers, Speedmaster tank badges, chrome pulley, chrome swing arm covers, chrome lower belt guide, chrome upper and lower fork yokes, deuce risers, kuryakan iso grips, chrome fork nut and centre bearing caps

Yes, id like the light forward, i did a rough mock up and i like it a little forward. Also l didn't only do that for the look but i also did it to be able to remove and put the wind screen back on. I did some rough measurements and that should work. Also, when you overlap the two mounting post, its not that drastic of a difference any whoo. I appreciate the feedback and look forward to showing the finished product.

Nice to hear there are some good old traditional workshops up and running. Don't suppose you got any pics of his shop did you.

Just got word today that my belt guard is finished and I should be receiving it sometime next week (ya ya, I know, I've been procrastinating). I'll likely be installing it the minute I get it back and pics will follow!!

On another note, after much deliberation, I've yet to sell myself on the 7" Harley light conversion (for a few different reasons). Anyways, If I decide not to go through with the install, I'll likely have it up for sale if anyone is interested. And just as a note, it is off a 2004 Fatboy, and no it does not have the Harley logo on the center of the bulb.

Thanks, thats my other toy, 1966 Mustang 2+2 Fastback. I've had her know for 14 years......she's almost as fun to drive as the Bird

Kind of stole the idea from The Harley Forty-Eight (ya ya I know)......and I've seen this done to a Speedmaster before and really liked it then.

Thanks zolti, it was quite the process to get something done that seems like such a little job. But i must say, the lower chrome guard was more of a process then expected. All in all, the finished product was well worth the effort

Here's just a few shots for now Woody. The car is still in the garage so the pics aren't the greatest. I'll take a few pics once some nice weather rolls in to town and I get her out of the stable
