Oh fuck yeah ! To me cars are transportation devices so i look at them like a nice TV set. I'd drool over a TV set even tho it's utilitarian. An appliance, but i still like it to look nice and all that. I just couldn't care less about having a car that appeals to me the way a bike does. I'd rather have a civic than a beemer or mercedes. Seriously. It looks great in that color, it runs forever and easy to keep looking new forever, it runs dirt cheap and never breaks. To me that is droolworthy, especially the new gen with in that color. Different strokes thatch. We all don't think the same ya know. Sports cars/hot cars are about as interesting to me as dirt. Monetary value aside, you couldn't give me a lamboghini. Cars and bike have nothing in common to me aside from the fact they can both take you where you wanna go.

Guys at work can't understand my lack of interest in the F1 nor the lack of interest when talking cars in general.
Work talked about me having a company car which I turned down. Why? Because then I'd have to use it rather than claiming mileage when I travelled to meetings on my bike.
Also the cost in tax I'd have to pay for the supposed pleasure and benefit of having something I don't want or need, I couldn't see a benefit for me.

I worked out the other day, in the 33 years I've been driving, my total accumulated expenditure on car purchased is about the same as the cost of purchasing the cheapest bike in my stable. I could easily justify spending 15k on a bike but on a car

Stunning paint job, look forward to seeing pics of it assembled next week

My dealer just called and said they would do the BB install for under $1700 out-the-door and since I'm well overdue for a valve adjustment I said yes. The bike is really getting a makeover

looking good Engage, hey if you don't mind asking your painter or if he will tell you how he did the badge on the tank, i.e. was it a stencil if so what was the process of getting the 3 colors on it. I'm a painter myself but i do boring auto paint and very rarely get to dabel in the custom stuff but i would like to do something similar only tank. thanks either way and i cant wait to see the finished product.

Hey, give triumph a break will ya? If you were to keep the Tbird in a hermetically sealed glass case thier paint would be perfectly fine ! Geez Todd, how picky can you get?

Hey EnGage,

What colors did your painter use for the tank color and the stripes or "feathers"? I am thinking about painting mine with the traditional tank flash of the late 60's Bonneville's but using the pearl effect he laid over your stripes. Do you have manufacturer and color numbers? You can PM me if you wish.

Thanks,

Ed

Looks really good. About the badge, will it level when tank is attached back to bike? To my eye it seems not to

I'm not sure. We did discuss paying attention to get the logo level, but if it's a lot, he''ll redo the logo.

Sensational colour and I like the striping. Paint work looks really high quality. Put it together and post a photo or five.

The dealer didn't bother with break in oil with mine, said there are too few parts to break in to make it worth it. I am going to change the oil after 1000 miles though. Peace of mind. Had no probs and is running sweet...................... so far.

I hear ya. The break-in oil is Castrol 10w-40 ACTEVO semi synthetic. Over the period of 500 miles, I don't the engine would know the difference.
