I have a Long haul solo seat on my bird and was wondering if I should buy the long haul 2 up seat or just get the long haul pillion for my wife? Are they about the same comfort wise?

Yes just about the same for comfort. I have the rider and pillion not the one piece jobby. The only advantage you have with the full touring seat is the fitting hole for the rider backrest. The advantage with the two piece is you can remove the pillion when solo riding. There are a few options out now for rider backrest if you have the two piece outfit.

PS - Mrs1600 has travelled nearly 25k miles on the bike with me and no complaints.

Hi Guys,

My bike came with a longhaul dual seat and I now also have a longhaul rider seat - both feel good to me as the pilot. The single took no adjusting to after being used to the dual, in fact they feel pretty much identical to my rump, so I'd say if you're happy with the single you'd be just as happy with the dual.

What I'd like to know (as you may too Ax - or at least your other half might ) is how the passenger unit of the longhaul single squares up against the longhaul dual for pillion comfort.

I prefer my bike in single seat mode unless I'm two-up, so it would be a far easier arrangement for me to have the matching pair of single longhauls. So, if the passenger longhaul single unit is as comfy as the dual for 'her indoors', I'd be interested in ordering a single passenger longhaul to replace the dual.

Any passenger views welcome!

I really like the long haul seat with both rider and passenger (2 up), I installed the rider backrest.

I am simply amazed at how much I like the backrest as a rider. I have absolutely not back fatigue even after a 400 mile run. However, my backside still gets a bit sore but supposedly the seat has some break in time I need to allow it before I give judgement.

I notice when I arrive at a typical rally all of the HD riders bow down down out of respect. My friend (an HD rider) says that I'm mistaken and that the HD guys are bending over to pick up rocks to throw at me. Thankfully, I have yet to be hit by a rock and if need be I can out run them all.

I purchased a used bike with both the long haul with a backrest and the solo seat. The solo seat without the pinion seat looks very sporty but for a ride over 200 miles I prefer the long haul with the backrest. The long haul seat has a slightly more vertical design at the tailbone area before heading aft to the passenger area adding additional support, the backrest is one great bonus. It's at matter of taste, comfort and posture. There are a lot of aftermarket products out there, our bikes being so new to the market there should be more items introduced every year

I assume that the quick release sissy bar is compatible with the dual longhaul touring seat???

Have you looked at the Air Hawk seat ? I have the longhaul dual and use the Air Hawk on lengthy rides, lots better than without although the longhaul is better than the standard seat. The back rider's back rest is great by the way

Cheers, Max
