Anyone had their saddlebags replaced under warranty? My reason for asking is I just had mine replaced due to the tops sagging. It appears this is a problem if you happen to park in the sunshine too long. The plastic along the top cover warps, glue releases and bam....makes the bags look bad. Here's the issue; the bags I got as replacement don't look anything like the original. The snaps on the rear are no longer there and the metal rod around the top opening is not there either. There are a couple of other things that appear different also but, they are Triumph bags and outward appearance look like my originals. Purchased the bike in Dec 2012.

If anyone has had their's replaced, were they different? Is Triumph using lesser quality bags for replacement? Have they changed the structure or am I missing something? Here's some pics of the new bags:

Notice any difference?

It has been a known issue. I had mine replaced twice under warranty. The third set finally addressed the poor design that caused the top to sag. They sewed two pieces of leather on the underside of the top so the leather and plastic will not separate. But mine still has the snaps, which yours does not. The snaps on my other bags failed too. I make sure I keep them lubed up so they wont break again as my bike is out of warranty. It looks like they decided to remove the snap altogether to prevent failure. That said, it looks as though they are on the third generation of bags... Trial and error can be a slow process.

I'm on my fourth set so far. had the same problems as above plus the water proof "skin" peeling off. One were were fitted straight from the box with both of those faults by those halfwits at wellingborough. the latest set has started peeling as well but can't face dealing with them again

I read a share of negative posts here about the bags and I have yet to hear anyone say that they are any good. I did get mine warranted and as soon as the dealer installed them I road home removed them and the brackets, boxed them and got rid of them. The replacements are improved over the 2010 bags I had but the old and new bag overall quality and depth of strorage sucks. Consideing what it costs to have them you are far better off doing much the same. I know I am much happier without them and continued posts like this assure me of making the right choice. Unfortunate for Triumph to have one of the few accesories with such poor quality.

There are a lot of posts on other options for bags and I'd almost have to suggest you get easy brackets and start looking around for what will work for you.

Just my 2 cents

The problem is fairly simple and the replacement bags still do not fully correct the problem. I had a suggestion and was asked to post it on line. If the tops of your leather Triumph saddle bags sag, as most of them do, mine did when the bike was delivered, then take your bags off and take them to a place that repairs leather saddles, or a very good shoe repair shop. I prefer the saddle place. They can add a stiffener to the underside of your saddle bag tops and you will be much more pleased with the Triumph bags. You can either have them reinforced as flat, as delivered, or with a slight curve downward from the center of the bag tops, whichever you want. We should not have to do this on relatively expensive saddle bags and Triumph should have done a better job. That said, I plan to replace these bags at an appropriate time with HardStreet large, full size bags (not the Slim bags, need more room). I may not be able to use the quick attach (easy) brackets, but then, I will just leave my saddle bags on the bike all the time anyway. My suggestion is to consider taking your saggy bags to a saddle repair place and have them put a good stiffener in the tops, on the underside. Also, consider using saddle soap, Kiwi Mink Oil Wax (THIN coat and wipe off the excess after 5 minutes, OR just use Kiwi black shoe polish and polish the bags and buff with a clean, dry cotton cloth or microfiber cloth. That will keep the tops from alligatoring in the rain and nourish the leather and keep it supple. Hope this helps guys and gals.

Sounds like those were the one's I originally had when I purchased my bike (2012). I guess it's a toss up which bags the dealer gets sent. I really don't know how they determine which ones to send, part numbers should be the same. If you have pics I can tell you if they were like my originals.

The warranty bags I have now no longer have the wire frame and snaps and so far they are doing well. (see my original post) Hope yours last longer than mine did. Might consider not parking in the sun too long.

My original bags were absolute crap quality. I have now got Edge bags and they are brilliant and suit the bike better as well.
