I took the ear wheel to the anodizing shop for assessment. They understand that since the wheels are casted (as opposed to billet aluminum), the anodizing treatment may go wrong, leaving marks and pores. Any experiences?

Powder coat or chrome them.

Powdercoated on Midges bike (now up for sale)

My wheels in powder silver fleck.

From my experience anodizing people get a bit funny with large parts.

the only problem with powder coating is they might chip from tyre changes and stone chips.
i have done mine with ceramic coating hard as nails and most tbird rider can't tell the difference from my rims to std new ones
only down side is as far as i have been told they only do ceramic coating in silver or black

Simple question: Can these rims be anodized?

I indeed appreciate your help, it's just that I have been getting ambiguous info and wanted to clarify my way :).
So far it seems that the only anodized wheels are the ones made out of billet aluminum.
Like you say, I thought of giving it a try but was discouraged due to the fact that the wheels are not aluminum made but an alloy of it. The other components present in the alloy would react with the acidic bath leaving pores and probably ruining the wheel.
So far I have polished the rear rim with Scotch-Brite achiving a matte finish that, if no anodizing is possible, I will just seal it to avoid corrosion and staining.
Like before, all thoughts are welcome!

You are correct about them being an alloy, if they were pure aluminium they would not corrode as bad or as quickly and would be easy to clean. Just t ake a look at any british bike engine from the 50's and 60's.

Now I'm not one hundred percent sure but I've never seen an anodized wheel on a car or bike. I really don't think they exist. Which means they more than likely can't be done otherwise someone would have done it. Anodizing is a great method of treating aluminium so they'd defo do it if they could .... no?

Hi, I owned a 2004 Buell Lighting which came standard with anodised wheels. They looked great however they did show slight imperfections in the anodising which looked like water marks but they were only visible from up close.

Hi Sensiblepete;
If you look close, all the links that you relate are from laminated trims which CAN be anodized, differently to our alloy ones.
