Decided to drill into the badge so it would stay as I did not trust the sticky to stay on the faux leather backing. Definitely staying on now!

I have a large Leatherpros trunk (Link attached to my rack. The standard Triumph backrest angles back to the rear, blocking much of the rack. I would like a straight sissy bar - without the bend - to allow full use of the rack. While the trunk currently fits, a sissy bar that was further forward would expose more of the rack and better support the trunk. Most importantly, my wife's comfort would be improved - she doesn't like leaning back so far, and often finds the pillion bolt biting her arse, and neither of us wants a touring seat.

Thanks for this, John! Just ordered one myself. Love the looks over that humongous Triumph thing. And my tool bag oughtta actually stay on straight -- right now it just tips over backwards because of the angle of the stock tubes. Hopefully it's still comfy for the wife.

Thats why I made my own - much comfier and no complaints from the pillion - helps with the fold away rack.

Hello Weasel
The tag.....My last name is Bond hence the 007. The other part....lets say I like to "secure items in the bed to prevent load shifting" at least thats what I tell my wife. The panniers/bags are Hardstreet Slimbags in glossy black. I got the from Fast Eddy Link the brackets are easy brackets Link . Fast Eddy is on of the best person/companies you can deal with, he does ship accross the pond as well.
I fit them buy mounting brackets alone first then using wooden blocks, duct tape while positioning bag. I then traced back of bracket onto back of bag with a grease pencil, crayon would work as well. Take off bracket, transfer holes to bag then I drilled the holes in the bag and mounted. You should have a extra set of hands help as well as take a ton of measurements. Just mirror for the other side. When I put the backrest on I had to use longer cap screws and shimmed with some stainless steel washers to position where I wanted them.
Good luck
John

What length of cap screws did you use and did you get them from easy bracket? Also how many washers and of what diameter did you use?

I don't know why but the Triumph back rest bar can also be turned around and the pad mounted backwards. See the first picture from one of our members who has his that way:

Stainless cap screws are 5mm longer than longest ones supplied with easy brackets. Take ones with kit to hardware store to match thread. My easy bracket kit was one for no backrest, ordered before I had backrest. Washers are stainless, 3/8", .875" O.D. (7/8") I.D. is about .400" x .050" thick.
I attached pictures, if resolution isn't good enough I can PM or e-mail. Short dock posts with longer backrest spacer go on far back, I used 2-3 washers in between fender and backrest to avoid scratching. Long dock post goes on middle position, no washers used. Front backrest bracket has 1-2 washers behind it to prevent scratching.
Hope this helps.

While reading the thread I saw a "LeatherPros.Com" link about a leather trunk. Being curious I looked into it. It sure would look good on the T-bird with matching leather bags. Was very impressed the the quality of the goods they sell. Although designed for Harleys, they would consider items for the T-Bird if enough interest is given. On a side note, after a 7-9 month wait, a set of "catless" exhaust from StainlessRide is supposedly on their way to me. Whenever they arrive I will post a video/pictures of the setup if I can figure out how to do so on this site. Until then enjoy whatever riding time we have left.

I just received a brand new one of these that I ordered, but the wife decided she prefers the larger Triumph backrest, so I won't be using this one. If anybody wants one quicker than from England and for a few $$$ less, PM me.
