| | Posted : 27 May 2012 - 18:52 Post title : USB hookup for iPhones and GPS units | | | I was looking for a way to use the charge cords and hookup cords that come with iPhones and GPS units that have a USB plug.
I know that I could use a mobile charge cord that plugs into a cigarette lighter, but would prefer a USB plug in.
Any one know of a manufacture that makes one for motorcycles?

Link It has a USB plug that allows me to use my iPhone cord that comes with the phone and also allows me to plug in my GPS
I found a real nice water proof case for the iPhone 4 that I have and has access to the power inside the case.
Once again the immense brain power of the forum has come to my rescue again!

I got a power cable for my Tom Tom last thursday. I carefully cut the USB connector off the end, routed the cable to the auxilliary light switch and soldered it on. Pucker job
Well no Twas at this point I learned that my Tom Tom is 5 volt not 12 volt. Tom didn't like it up him!!
In the market now for a new Tom Tom

I'm not going to laugh. Honest. If you get a TT rider, you get a mount with it that you can leave on your bike and hard wired. The mount has the gubbins inside it to sort your elctrical deficencies out.

yeah thats right, not the posting to make you more depressed but
to confirm USB can be anywhere between 4.74 and 5.25 volts.
bet you wont do that again
even on ebay second hand ttriders are over £100, ouch
but cant you fix it with a magic spell wizard??

The phrase "assumption is the mother of all f**k-ups" is proven yet again.
I need a sat-nav that I can transfer between bike - car - van, I think a TT rider would be probably be suitable.
Question....Is the difference between a Tom Tom with Britain and ROI, and a Europe version of the same model, just the map uploaded from new? i.e hardware is the same, just loaded software differs?
Only reason to ask is I won't need Europe maps at least till this time next year. If I bought the Britain and ROI, I could purchase and upload the Europe map next year when needed?
