Just to let you guys know to be mindful of the leather tank cover.
I have just removed the one that came on the 'Bird I bought last week and the out seam has rubbed the paint significantly, to primer in some areas
I have had a go with rubbing compound and t-cut, most of it should come out but will never be perfect.
Cheers,
John

I don't think it's a purely Triumph problem, tank bags can effect any bike tank.

In the instructions it suggests that a good coat of wax will help a lot before it is installed!

I really want to get the tank cover (with the small pouch) for convenience of carrying my insurance, registration, etc. I was wondering if some of you could chime in with what you are putting under your tank cover to protect the paint. I've seen felt, and a good coat of wax. How are these working out?
Thanks for any advice. Shannon

Yep I'm definately going to put a good coat of wax on... I think I will use smooth 2mm compression rubber as a backing though, simply glued on. That will help naturally dampen vibrations & surface friction, water repellent & a natural 'gripper' anyway.
Any type felt or cloth even shammi material will have a venturi effect for moisture for those in damper environments. Micro eco-sphere bacterial colony anyone..... paint eating bug worse than the original leather rubbing problem.
