(Re: Ted) | | | Hi Ted, I'm very interested in this bike though at the moment I'm tending to my oil rig which I find it very hard to get mobile service . Please send me your bike and I will forward my funds when they become available.
Looking forward to riding my new Thunderbird.
Sorry Magpie made me do it. BTW Did you see Casey Stoners ride today.

There's no taking the glory away from Casey, he's a legend in his own time. Pleased to see he's cheered up a bit an 'all.
Sorry about the bike sale, I'm afraid it's only available to Nigerian Princes.
Do you get the oil rig tossers in Oz as well?

Cal did well too, I wonder if he'd do better on the full factory bike?
I'm a little saddened that Rossi hasn't sorted himself or the bike out yet, it would be great to see him up there pushing the others a bit more.
Good luck with the bike sale, Ted. You'd probably get close to your asking price if it was Blue and White.

(Re: weasel) | | | 18 months ago the bolt/s came loose on a Tbird in the USA and ground into the tyre, narrowly avoiding a front blowout. Must've scared Triumph witless, especially in the Land of Litigation. There's a site somewhere, where you can type in your VIN and it'll tell you if there is any recall work. Alternatively, call in to the Trump Shop. I think any Bird born after Dec 2011 is ok.
Thanks Weasel, keeps the link prominent.

| | Posted : 02 May 2012 - 13:26 Post title : Re: A fine example, available for a pittance... (Re: mat1600) | | | Had 2 test rides. Feels a lot less buzzy than the Tiger 800. Beautiful gear change - though if you didn't synchronise the revs it made a bit of a clonk. Exhaust gives a bit more noise than the usual Triumph sewing machine sound. Feels "sat in" rather than "sat on". Great brakes. Little torque effect from shaft (you could shut off on my Guzzi and change lanes). It has grunt - but what compares to the R3 & Tbird? Loadsa stuff to play with on't dash. Little buffeting. Adjustable suspension front & back. Adjustable screen. Quite a few easily available connections on the wiring harness. 2 Powerlet sockets. Centre stand. Forum members reckon the lights are outstanding. I was more conscious of counter-steering than the bird, although that is more like "heaving on the tiller". ABS, Cruise Control & switchable TC. 10K service intervals (or yearly).
Mrs. Ted thinks it's as comfy as the Tiger 955i we had (her "comfiest bike ever"). The deal breaker was that she thinks it's a lovely blue. WTF?
I've been lurking in the Explorer Forum Link there doesn't seem to be ANY faults. So far.
Immediate issues: Many extras wont be available until June & August. Triumph must've lost a fortune in pannier sales to Givi. Unbelievably shitty horn. Rear shock gets clarted up with muck. The witchcraft throttle and cruise control are a bit scary to begin with - there's virtually NO resistance and it feels deeply unsettling sat on a bike hurtling towards overtaking trucks of it's own accord, under cruise control.
Although Triumph claim they would not make an impact on the BMW GSs (yeah, right), most of the forum members have sold GSs and are claiming to find the Explorer far superior. Well, you would I suppose if you'd just shelled out £11k+.
I'm just trying to figure how to get the speedo set into the tank and I can't find where to route a clutch cable.

I did consider renting one of the two I had to Frank and if it isn't sold on Sunday, I may still keep it.
