ok
sissys and backrests are like marmite....
not up my street
but they do keep ms zolt on the back and cheerful, so theres the reason why I have had to succum to fitting such scaffold to the bike.
that said, its not in your face, minimal distraction and does have a small rack.
the back rest itself can be unscrewed and different shapes made easily if your into lines.
its from bikewarehouse, also on ebay, but the homepage is good too
ordered on sunday afternoon last week, arrived wednesday... from germany to england. the communication is prompt too and helpful
for those who may want an alternative to the bulky heavy triumph one heres some pics.

I just sprung for their version of the driver backrest which also comes with a rack. Got mine from Triumph Online which worked out abut £30.00 less that's to Al (Le Big Mack)

yes good point
ebay uses the pound sign instead of the euro sign for the backrest, might be the same for your part
if you use the bike connection warehouse homepage Link its the same numbers but in euros,
a lot cheaper than ebay
and for my part cheaper than triumph online

ebay £158 +15pp
tol £140 +6pp
bw £132 + 10pp

your part works out about the same tol and bcw.

You could probably drill out the bolt hole to take the Easy Bracket bolt ~ then I could have both for when the missus wants to get away for a weekend...

well I did consider that but the steel left would be thin and prone to rusting. what you cant tell is there is a spacer about 8mm behind the bracket.
anyhow
what im going to try is
1 the forward bobbin at the rear and use the larger one forward, if it works this is the preferred option
failing that
2 get longer bolts and use spacers, not too happy with this due to cantilever forces
if im not happy then
3 turn the 10mm or so off the rear bobbin and bobs ur uncle ( id have to use spacers after that though if i used without b/rest)
there is room for this to work with the rest as it is. the line from the forward bobbin, as is, will allow this
or
4 get me mate mat to turn 2 new rear ones to my spec

I bought the sissy bar from these people last week, ordered Monday, arrived Thursday morning fitted thursday evening.

I dont have the passenger seat on as I have the tubular Triumph rack. I was Faffing around trying to bungee my bags on at the Peak District flock & decided a sissy bar was required for luggage security. Also means I don't need to carry my back pack to work I can put my pack-up on the rack.

Me likey! Use the last 2 bolts for Edge/EX bracket mounts, right? This would be sweet for a solo long haul trip. Hmmm. Gots me thinking on this one.

ok birdeeee

EASY BRACKETS WITH ALTERNATIVE BACKREST

heres a quick solution that wont break the bank, retains the bobbins intact ( for those solo trips) and works sweet.

take the rear bobbin and fit on the forward hole. ( you will need 4 additional s/s bolts 5mm longer)
take the forward bobbin and add 6mm of spacer ( i used 2 flat and 2 spring washers, until i can turn a spacer or get me mate mat to do one in s/s)

bobs yer uncle.

the 4 longer bolts in s/s cost £1.50 each.

Check out matt1600 backrest brackets he makes. I got a set from him, offers a better look backrest option with a hidden rack.

more than happy with this one
its no where near the cost of the turyakin set up
the rack can take extra weight if needed
also looks are subjective, what you might like i might not

Zolti

Looks very nice. I like the subtle look, appears rugged as well and will work with easy brackets.

How big is the backrest pad, height x width and how high is the backrest overall (from fender or other reference point).

I'm really liking this backrest.

Thanks
John

That's a very nice setup, great find! Just a bit too late.....

I didn't have any aftermarket options when I bought my T-bird - and didn't much care for the factory model - so I had to make my own. Seems to me that the ability to remove bags is necessary (especially when traveling), but removing backrest assembly isn't, exactly the opposite of factory bags/bar arrangement. Had to modify some Easy Brackets to make it happen, but it works. Logo is from reflective black 3M material (thanks to someone's post here), and the spikes are gone now, replaced with rivets reinforcing tops of the factory bags.
Wouldn't recommend any o'this, was ridiculously expensive.

Just ordered from TRIUMPH-ONLINE.CO.UK (Bike Connection was sold out), will be using with Hardstreet Slimbags with Easy brackets. Looks like it will work by switching posts, using longer bolts and washers/shims. Thanks again for your help.
