OK... OK... OK... I know a lot of you like the stock headlamp - I respect and appreciate that. Everyone to their own.
But for those interested in fitting dual head lamp - such as the Rocket III or Street Triple, this is the thread to watch!

Some of you already know that I chopped away at one of Thatch's photos last year to help 'en-vision' my future Raven If you didn't - here it is:

I would also like to have an Ampere- and Volt Meter in the top of the lamps at some point - like this:

But that will have to wait until stage 1 - 'Dual Lamps' - is installed and completed!

So - here's the GOOD NEWS...
As I said last week Roger and myself were sketching away at ideas for a fitting to support the Rocket III headlamp set-up.
At the end of the day, Roger came up with is:
(Photos used with kind permission of Moto91 AG)
Hope you're not angered with me having to imprint the Copyright on the picture?

NOTE: The headlamp shells shown here - matt black - are taken from the Street Triple for demonstration purposes. The final version will be the Chrome lamps.

Here you can see the existing fitting with the required 'Triangle' adapters that allow the Rocket III fitting to be installed (upside down).

The triangles shown here are plastic at the moment - but are currently being produced in polished aluminum.

So - once those triangle pieces come in - I'll be down to my dealer again and shoot some more pictures!
Hope this has helped some of you with your ideas.

Stay tuned for more information....!

And here I thought you had gotten past this madness....

Don't mind me, I just love the stock can and can't imagine swapping it out. Looks like it will be a nice clean install though. I'm interested to see the final product. Hate to admit it but it looks good.

Damn I have to say I hink that looks awesome!

I was actually toying with the idea of a HD Fatbob before putting my deposit down on the TB and one of the things that I didnt like about it was the dual headlight.

For some reason though those prelim pics have me thinking that the dual headlight might be the way to go on the Tbird.

Very much looking forward to seeing the final fitting.

Did you have any dramas getting the factory tbars? No date in Oz for their delivery as yet.

Time to waken my thread up again with some EXCELLENT news

My Raven is now fitted with the Rocket III dual headlamps

Here's the stainless steel fitting:

OK.... And some special shots - SHOWING THE NEW TANK BADGE!
(I'll put these up in the 'Tank Badge' Tread also - keep things tidy)

And some - poor quality (phone-camera)video:

Sooooo..... My impressions are BRILLIANT... SEXY.... OMGOODNESS.... etc. etc. etc.

There ARE:
- wider than the FatBob Lamps set up (but I prefer this - twin individual lamps)
- don't have the fancy one piece alu stem to hold them (would be nice - can be made later)
- more expencive than the FatBob lamps (yeah... but I was only following instructions 'Use Only Origional Triumph Parts' )

Here you go for reference:

Looking good Birdy. I especially like the tank badges. Now if you could just ride the damn thing. :)

So what's this with the Moto3 branding you've got on there?

They are the Rocket III Touring badges. Actually they are all chrome - so I did a bit of painting.
More info is here in the Tank Badge Opptions

went to my dealer today and looked at a rocket tank badges and the left badge is much smaller than the right because of the intake manifold.
so i went to the spare parts counter to see if there is a different model rocket badge that are both the same but doesn't look like there is?:
looks like i will have to find something different(i really liked those badges )
have you got your left one yet birdy?

Love the look of your Raven.... I have just received my T Bird after several months of "thinking" about it. Just love it. I had the same notion to double up on the headlights and the thought of the HD fat Bobs ran across my mind until I ran across your custom setup and I fell in love with it. My biggest thing is the size of the triangle brackets that you custom made. Any way you can share the dimensions so that I can duplicate on my end? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Be warned through... Those 'Original Triumph Parts - Dual Head Lamps' are NOT cheep!!!
But they are original and nice and quality and sexy and, and, and...

Doesn't look like you'll have to fabricate anything now. Look in the lounge, I've just posted pics of the new tbird storm. It has duals and therefore the mounting hardware needed. I don't know if those are just RIII lights slapped on the bird or not but I would suspect that they are. Would be good if they are since the storm lights have a blacked out bucket which you probably wouldn't want.

good luck

Yup, as Thatch says - I think you could order one of the Storm set-ups and simply exchange the rear light buckets for chrome ones!?

But if you'd like to fabricate the triangular piece, then here you go - some pictures...

And my measurements (as best I could get them):
Using this image as reference

Thickness of triangular plate: 4 mm

Distance From:
- Lower Flanged Hex Bolts (A to B): 35 mm (This distance is given - it is the standard Thunderbird light fitting)
- Lower Rear Flanged Hex Bolt & Top Allen Key Bolt (A to C): 45 mm
- Lower Front Flanged Hex Bolt & Top Allen Key Bolt (B to C): 55 mm

Hope that helps!

Now why is it that it looks like you've got a plastic vertical stem on your headlight setup?

Anyone else able to confirm or deny that their stem looks the same or not?

Thanks for the pics Birdie. They help a bunch.

I did see the "Storm" you led me to Thatch. Looks good. And indeed the dual headlights are there.

I guess the issue now would be how long before we can get the exact part(s) I need. It might be faster just to fabricate.
