Just had my first breakdown on the way home last night. Had to pull up sharp because of a bus pulling out, bike backfired and stalled. I pulled the clutch in and let her roll a few feet and let the clutch out to bump start her again. It was busy rush hour traffic. Bike fired up no problem but I had some sort of lead flapping about from under the tank and the engine warning light came on after a hundred yards or so.

I pulled into a bus stop on the approach to a very busy roundabout to sort it out. Luckily after reading this forum I had an idea what it was. Still took ten minutes to find exactly where it came from. It's hard to see under the tank and the engine was hot so that made it more difficult. It was one of the sensor leads/pipes from the fuel injector to the unit under the tank.

I was almost on the point of calling the RAC when I had a eureka moment and followed the other side lead to see where it went. Which allowed me to work out where it would most likely be. It wasn't hard to put back on once I found it. but it's hard to see a black pipe in a dark space under the tank.

So a big thanks to you guys for all the heads up with problems

If it happens to you, you can get at them but watch your hands on the hot engine.

Ah, the old MAP sensor problem! Nce work! Steve, what year is your bird? I would have thought that the newer birds or Storms would have this little issue sorted out by now.

Not likely to die of natural causes. At least I hope not.

I had no idea you could fit these back by feel with the tank in place.
Good one, Steve!

Oh I can put it back on blindfolded now. (although did manage to get a nice header burn to the forearm last time)

A bit of friction tape on the tube where it enters the rubber boot to create a bit of a nipple and some safety wire to secure the boot under the tank and now i don't have to carry an ODB2 sensor everywhere to clear it from limp home mode.

Bought mine in 2011 although the VIN number seems to think it's a 2010. But obviously not fixed yet. It's easy enough to get to once you know where it goes but is dangerously close to the hot engine. If you have big hands you might struggle a bit. Mine didn't enter limp home mode, must have stopped before that happened. Light went out as soon as the hose was back on. Been fine, if not better, since then.

I'll go out and follow the tubes, now, with my hand. It's a cold engine but a good skill to practice
before it can burn.

Too bizarre - this happened to me two days ago - same sysmptoms! When mine came off it lost the elbow. So after calling the dealer yesterday to verify that the elbow didn't contain any sort of check valve (he says is doesn't) I went to the auto parts store and picked one up and installed it.

Is there any chance of a pic of the offending pipe and it location for us that might fall into that problem.

I had to do the exact same thing in a parking lot( complete with the forarm burn ) once you know where they are they are a snap to put on, but do not get them mixed up.

I forgot that I had upgraded to a zip tie, but it makes a good point of reference. Friction tape is hidden under rubber boot.

Pic taken looking under right hand front of tank.
