if anybody has a picture of the rear fitting of the battery strap please can i have a look.

got the bike back from a warrenty issue, fork lowers and coolant leak

went to fit the aux plug and when i removed the seat the battery clip was just lying there, unfitted.

what i need to see is how the rubber flappy bit unites with the strap., rear fixing.

i have fitted the strap but have no idea how the rubber bit goes. i suspect failure to fit this correctly will mean water and crap from the back wheel spitting up all over the battery etc.

thanks

There's a little lip behind the battery that is a BITCH to hook the rear of the strap to... can't really see it in the picture below, sorry.

Unhook the battery hold down strap altogether and then attach it to the rear point first by going at it from different angles. You DO NOT have to remove the battery.Once ya get it caught there, attaching the front of the strap is a piece of cake.It took me a few minutes to figure it out too,but will now only take me a few seconds to hook and unhook it.When I took delivery and got my SE home,I discovered that the dealer did not have it attached in the back either,so I had to do it. No problem. Dave!!!

thanks for the effort lads

but

what im after is how the rubber flappy bit fits in relation to the rear fixing hook.

to access the rear frame fixing for the battery strap i pushed the rubber through the hole laying it on the rear mud guard to find its just a hole.
i can see the rear tyre between the rubber flap and the rear battery fixing.

my concern is that spray from the wheel will access under the seat , this rubber flap must be there to stop it, there is a small lip on the rubber piece that must somehow interact with the strap to hide this hole and stop the spray from entering under the seat

sorry still non the wiser

I know it doesn't help - but this 'left un-strapped' seems to be a standard Triumph procedure!
It happened to me after my first service - I remember posting about it a year or more ago:

Don't cry1, zoltron, you'll get me started because I've been there. You bend 45 degrees down bend for the metal d-ring on the
ruubber and slip it in, to hook... a 90 degree down plastic tab.

The trick is to get a a little flat screw driver in your other hand to guide the metal ring into the tab. After I learned the geometry
I can mostly do without the screwdriver. But I hate it.

God bless the Queen and may she save us from dealer service.

I replaced my seat on Sat. and my rubba strap also wasn't hooked on that bracket behind the batt. I just put it on it then attached it to the front one with no problem....

sorry but fixing the strap to either hook aint the issue

its how does the flappy bit you can see resting above the rear of the battery strap in birdys pic lie( to the right of the red arrow)

on birdies its lying ontop of the strap. is that where is should be?
is it just lyiing there enough to stop the spray from the back wheel coming up the hole where the rear hook is?

or is that little lip you can see on the rear flappy bit (not the strap) somehow meant to feed into the strap and rear fixing to stop th spray from the rear wheel entering under the seat area.

oh the flappy bit! Wyrart cha ze zo?

Does my bike have a flappy bit? Surely. I don't remember it. Now you've got me worried
I've threaded the strap incorrectly.

But, in general, a stiff tab and a free slot ....

Ok, now the thread can digress into the usual madness.

Where did you get that multi-connection do dad on top of your battery? I've been thinking of doing something like that but never got a really good look at any and that one seems to be a pretty good set up as any that is probably out there.

Something else I need to tend to when I return home...but I am still looking forward to it.
