I don't like matt black bikes, chrome and polished alloy looks better.

Went out today, bright sunshine, as the sun got higher for about half an hour or so the sun reflected off the top yoke right into my face like a mirror. It also caught to top of the headlight and speedo rim for a while.

After a while it bounced off at a different angle.

Almost got to a point when was thinking of stopping for a while on a long straight stretch of road.

About half an hour later all was well.

Still not keen on matt black, but its worth a thought, maybe change for a Storm?

I think having a bright chrome speedo on top of the gas tank is one of the worst design features of the Bird. When the sun is overhead the reflection off the speedo shines under my open faced hemet tinted visor right in to my eyes. On one occasion I had to pull off the road for a while and take a break until the sun had moved a bit lower.

I am leaving for a four day trip on Monday and it's supposed to be sunny all the time so I am taking some blue painters tape with me and hope that it will provide a quick but inelegant solution if it gets too bad.

I understand what Triumph was going for with the tank dash and don't have a problem with it. While I do get a bit of glare from time to time, I've never experienced anything super-annoying or overly-distracting.

Since the engineers decided to use integrate the electronics into one circuit board, I wouldn't expect to see a bar-mounted instrument cluster from Triumph anytime soon. Of course, you NEVER know what Marketing and Engineering will decide to do on future models.

I'm sure not crazy about the few mods I've seen to move the OEM speedo to the bars, either... again, just my own slightly askew opinion.

I was interested in the little Triumph sunscreen for the speedo, but it's really the chrome that can be blinding... rarely, I admit.
But enough to add the tape to kit, but not to use it, yet. That and polarized, perscription sunglasses.

Oh yeah... I forgot to mention that I usually have my polarized sunglasses on. That's a fairly cheap solution.

Painters tape is the trick we all use and have for many years.
