I'm looking for the speedometer sensor on my bike. Any one know where it is?

Where is the speedo sensor on the bike. I'm installing a sound system that has a connection for it. It is used to adjust the sound.

I don,t know the answer for sure.

This post might explain a little about the speedo signal.

There is reference to it, in this post as not being an analogue signal.

Probs in the ECU. It will be an electronic affair.

its the road speed sensor, its located in the gearbox, its mounted in the back of it you can get to it from underneath behind the swing arm where the abs pump is on that model.

It's a Honda Slimline Part #08A08-9H1-000 My bike is non ABS. Trying to find out if I can connect the speedo wire from the amp to power or if it is compatible with the Triumph speedo wire signal. Also if this hook up will affect the speedo on my bike.

wont work i am afrade its a can based sensor, you cant hook into it as its part of the data bus of the ecu. same problem people have with modern cardm however from them you can buy an adapter, none for bikes though.

Thanks. I don't have ABS but it is probably in the same spot. I did fid a wire connection with the three color codes that the sensor has by the fuse box. I might use that but I would still like to find out if it will affect my speedo.

You will most probably find out that it affects much more than the speedo. The CanBus (like a LAN) carries all of the signals from all of the different sensors... mixed together. Each sensor signal has a unique identifier that the ECU recognizes. You, however, cannot just grab the speedo signal without a magic black box... and that doesn't exist yet for the Thunderbird.

And, on the T-Bird, both ABS and non-ABS have the CanBus data system.

On a prior bike I had, the CanBus was a bugger... and you learned really quick not to fool around with anything that could affect the sensor signals to the ECU.

TADA it works. I hooked up the power the same way that Speed Bird did on his bike, behind the relays. Use the pink-yellow wire from the connection by the fuse box. For the speedo feed on the amp. The sound system works as it should, changing volume with speed. And nothing was compromised.
