| | Posted : 22 Apr 2011 - 08:46 Post title : God damn dealers | | | Took the day off yesterday and made a 70 mile round trip (short I know) to drop off my 1600 Tbird at the dealer as I am upgrading to the Storm - having a few extras transfered from bike to bike so the dealer said he needed it Thursday and I could collect the Storm on Saturday complete with my extras.
Just before I left the delear on the loan bike, I asked if I could take a look at my new Storm - after spending 15 minutes looking for it (the shop ain't that big). They then call Triumph and tell me it won't be in for a couple of weeks - what the F... !!!.
Besides really hacking me off with the late delivery and taking time off work to sort everything, I am now paying insurance on a bike that isn't even built and had to do a hasty retreat on my existing Tbird insurance cancellation having had to take it back from the shop for the next 2 weeks - they offered to let me leave it and use an America until the Storm came in - com on - would you ???
What really hurts is I have the whole of next week off work and had several runs on the new Storm planned
Top notch customer service A1 Motors York - have to say though up until this fiasco, they had been excellent.

Well as you know Midge. They do tend to bend over backwards to help you and they have and still are doing with me. But at the last service they did (@near on 200 quid) they did not check for leaks and coolant level. I didn't know this until the next day, out scooting with Ivan he noticed my coolant level at minimum. So I rang A1 expecting them to say 'woops sorry mate must have missed that - here have a free speed triple for your trouble' - but no. They said its not part of the 6k service. But after looking at the Triumph service sheet, its the very first thing on list. All the 'service tech guy dudes' that I have spoken to say its the first thing they check on ANY service. Just wondering how many other things they leave alone.
A1 - if you are reading this , - I don't mind paying what you charge (its my choice) but dont cut corners.

Hmm it's not good - basic stuff, leaks and coolant levels.
It's important that the local dealer has your confidence especially for me as I try to do as little as possible myself
When you pay £10k and the rest for your bike you want to be sure that it is maintained to the highest possible standard and you would hope that your local Triumph dealer is the best qualified to do just that!

I don't even know where to start. Hmmmm....get a Service Manual. Yeah, that's the ticket.
My dealer is 6 miles away and I don't even like to ride down the same street, although, they still owe me $60 credit.
Talk about a whore's bargain. Leave your .9 bike for a .5 bike so your 1.0 bike will take forever + 70 miles round.
Having had a fair amount of Doctoring in my now normal life, how do you tell what is a "good Doctor?" Not retorical, I'm still wondering. Up until this fiasco, (of me almost dying several times) they had been excellent. Top notch customer service, until then. Oh and the, "Have a real nice day!" was always puzzling to me.
Dealer Service - the ultimate oxymoron.
