Looking forward to Pie and Chips at Lochinver this weekend.. Is it going to happen Oh don't know..

Bike booked in for 12k or 1 year service last Tuesday (12th) 10k miles on clock, but seeing as due date was 18th thought best get it over and done with since I'd be doin over 1k this weekend on the Pie Run.

Well picked up Bird (£650 poorer) and rode gingerly to station to fill up. Gingerly since I'm thoughtfull towards mechanics. Rather they didn't strain themselves by lifting a full tank.

Filled up and then let her out to full potential. Theres me thiniking baubling seems to be loader and 2 miles on an bike dies. Starts up agains so think nothing more of it.

Friday Morning and trip to work, dies 5 times, loads'a'bauble then bang. Starts up ok but repeats. So phone call to dealer and in on Saturday. Apparently a sensor pipe come off from injectors causing fuel starvation or summat. So fixed. Or so I thought!!

Baubling still appeared louder and growl a bit deeper, which of course I don't mind. Acceleration good, but fuel consumption seems to have increased. Also when holding steady speed 20/30/40/50 mph, she's fluttering/stuttering... Not normal so back at dealer.

They agree it's not right, diagnostics says everything fine, Triumph reviewed on line and say everythings fine but it aint!!!

At least my dealer is supporting me.. Before it went in not a problem, after Triumph Computer System diagnostics and service she aint the same..

So I'm currently Birdless (well 1600 wise anyway) and don't know whether she'll be back tommorrow. Dealer is now swapping tank and fuel pump to see if it's that. Can't see why... It's got to be something about the tune.

Anyone else had similar after 12k service?

Regards

Could it be bad fuel, since you have just topped up.

Anything got pinched/trapped under the tank during servicing?

650 Pounds? $1,065? I'd be mightily pissed before I even had a problem. I paid a little over $400 (without an oil change) and mine runs just fine. However, the same dealer wants over $2,500 to do a BB Kit conversion. That seems a bit much to me.

It's that damned valve adjustment that makes the cost so high. That's why I'm doing my BB Kit install at 12K.

I'll lay ya odds that they did NOT touch the valves. As for the new problem,if it wasn't there before ya brought it in for the 12,000 mile service, then it's gotta be somethin they screwed up.It's called carelessness and usually caused by the service manager pushin the guys to HURRY UP so they can screw the next customer. That's when things get missed and or screwed up.

The second senerio is,the so called "TECH[S]" don't know what they're doin.I'll put my money on the latter.lol Dave!!!

That seems high - mine was under $700, but then again everything seems more expensive across the pond.

Hope all turns out ok for you - would be a shame not to do the Pie run on your Bird.

cacnt see it being the tune sean

but if they have fidddled with the valves and somhow got the timing or valves wrong that could mess up your running, could also explaing the bang

but theres no doubt in my mind its something the dealers done. just too big a coincidence to be anything else.

£650!!! jack lilley had the 12000 service kit for about £160.

hmm nice profit for your dealer and a little more now hes knacked up your bike. hey if A1 cant get a 6000 service right ( check mats coolant) what hope a 12000 whoever you went to

This may be a bit late but, I visited the pub where the local Triumph Owners Club meets last night, for the first time. Two other Tbird owners were there and one of them had an identical experience to you. Apparently he stopped in the middle of nowhere and demanded the shop come to collect him and bike NOW! Which they did.

They quickly diagnosed a very small sensor tube, under the tank had come adrift, said they'd seen it happen before, and glued it in (as it officially relies upon friction). That fixed it.

Please bear in mind I'm relating this 3rd hand, after beer was taken. Good luck Sean, I know those Scottish roads you're aiming for.

Thanks for support all. Still awaiting to hear the news. Was offerred a loan bike to take away for the weekend "A Sprint complete with panniers" but not quite the same a cruising at speed as a flock of birds.

To clarify the £650 did include a new front tyre and brake pads. I could have got another 3-5K out of the pads but since I'm travelling through Europe in 3 weeks time thought it more prudent to have them fitted now. Reckon I'm getting about 13-14k out of the pads, guess that can't be to bad.

Sensor tube had come adrift but something still aint right. They're trying fuel pump at the mo.

Still hoping to be a goin this weekend.
