I am thinking about purchasing the Roadster Screen for my Bird, however I'm a bit concerned that the screen my be too close to the rider. I remember when I test rode a Kawasaki 1700, it's stock touring screen was way to close I felt cramped although the previous model the 1600 was fine. I have tried several of my local Triumph dealers, and no-one has Bird with one fitted. If anyone has one fitted to their Bird any feed back would be much appreciated I don't want to fork out $820 and it annoys the hell out of me. There is a touring screen from National Cycle it's their 2-UP Switchblade Windshield it's about half the price, not sure about this, looks excellent quality though, but I really do want to keep my Bird 100% Triumph, I am considering it though.

I have the quick release kit on it as well. I may get a Clearview screen in the future just to be able to get that vent.

The buffeting on mine gets real bad, and there is a lot of wind noise, I am going to take it off and see how it is without the screen.
The bike came with the screen fitted, it does take the wind off your chest, but a few people have commented about the turbulence on a few forums.
Before spending lot of cash, see if you can find a demo bike with a screen to try.

I can give my two cents on that and buffeting has been discussed on this forum in the past, so you'll find more info with a search.
I get buffeting that starts around 55 to 60 mph. On a calm day, I go to 70 mph without significant buffeting, but here in West Michigan, wind is the norm.
Personally, I believe that buffeting is the norm without a full fairing or bat wing. The Bonneville folks complain about it, my son's FJR buffets, the company Laminar Lip makes a living selling lips to reduce buffeting and Calsci produces a variety of screen with strategic holes in them to increase the pressure behind the screen to reduce buffeting. In other words, if you have a setup that doesn't produce buffeting I believe you are the exception, not the norm.
I did have a small fly screen on my 2004 Bonneville that did not produce buffeting, but it did not take my helmet out of the wind either. That is the solution I will ultimately search for with my Tbird.
BTW, when it's warm, my screen comes off - I prefer it that way.

Teebird is WAY taller than me and has a larger torso, so he felt he needed a taller windscreen and made custom adjustments to the fairing's mounting points to tilt it up in order to get the airflow the way he wanted it.
I ordered mine with the short, 6" tinted windscreen and have the stock mounting position. I've posted the following on several threads, but... I FREAKING LOVE the way the Contraband cuts ALL buffeting! I can now easily cruise at 90mph for extended time with absolutely NO buffeting... just smooth air flowing over my helmet.
Again, I'm sure different riders with different torso sizes would feel more or less air hitting them in the head and/or chest, but I'm very confident that, overall, the air moving over the fairing is stable. Of course, this fairing ain't cheap!

HAH!!
a polite understatement Narc!
Teebird weighs 230, is 6 feet tall with monkey arms.
I found the roadster screen worse than bad. I have two thunderbird cruisers. one with the flyscreen cowl, it is better than the roadster screen in all but highway sppeds and rain would soak the rider. but as for buffeting: I hated the roadster screen.
this with longhaul seat which indeed is an inch taller than stock seat, and with an upright sitting position.
mind you YMMV.
the corbin with its pathetic service, works.

Jeez, "pathetic service" is an understatement, indeed! I hung in there, though, and finally managed to make contact with an actual competent tech in the California factory. He worked with me till the issues I had were resolved... it just too about 2 month before the frontline people would give him my email address and vice versa.
Still, I couldn't be happier with the performance of the Contraband, but as Teebird says, I'm pretty sure YOUR MILEAGE MAY VARY.

On each I have removed it just to see how it felt without the screen. I didn't much like it and here in Florida we have bugs the size of Rottweillers. They HURT! All of the windshields have produced mild buffeting at certain speeds (each different) but nothing as tiring or painful as riding without the windshield. A couple of the shields (National Cycle Switchblades) actually seemed to direct the air around me and then it curved inward and gave me a nice, gentle breeze on the back. They were mounted on Valkyries. The only time I have experienced a true "quiet zone" was a couple of weeks ago on a friend's new Gold Wing. It was almost like riding in a car, which I definitely don't want! Besides having almost still air to ride in, it was HOT. Everything's a compromise. I guess choosing a windshield is like choosing a president; pick the lesser of the evils presented to you.
