Dealers are supposed to charge for that amount of time so it should be the same everywhere. However, they don't seem to follow that rule. To the good side tho, it seems like the ones who don't follow it err to the good of the customer, IE: charging less than 11 hours. Either that or thier hourly rate is different, tho i'm not sure if that is regulated by the company.

(Re: eightrackpony) | | | Can't quite remember - they had her in for a week to document the installation process (mine was the first kit they did). So I got a good rate - but can't exactly remember how many hours.
If you really want to know then maybe a search for my post regarding BBKit could revile some answers.

well he did wander off to ask the other sales lad what price he should quote
didnt take them up on it as i am waiting for the 12000 mile service to offset the price, but with the price of petrol shooting up faster than a rocket and the bb kit escalating from £500 to £620 might not bother
or i might do it as a winter project

When I questioned them about it I mentioned the 11 hour thing and they said that is just a "guideline" put out by Triumph and that it actually takes them closer to 13 hours and so they think they are being kind to me. I think once they install my BB that I'll be taking by bird elsewhere for servicing as thankfully I have some choices...

(Re: eightrackpony) | | | I don't want to sound like i'm on the dealer's side, because if you know me you know i find the vast majority of dealers are scammers and incompetents. But in this case i have to say that from what i have read and what my mechanic told me, 11 hours is cutting it pretty slim. Mine told me it took him considerably longer, and being the USA fleet manager for triumph he's likely done more Tbird BB installs than any 10 dealers combined. He could have been BS'ing me, but i have read several things that make me believe that triumph is really cutting it close with 11 hours. On the other hand i also believe that they are required to follow triumph's install requirements and charge for 11 hours, but i may be wrong on that. Maybe mad angler can chime in on this. If anyone would know i think he might.

(Re: Druid) | | | No of course I want them to do the job right and take the time they need to do it. I'm just a bit confused about this 11 hour thing from Triumph. Does it carry any weight? I guess it is just a guideline from Triumph and the dealer can charge whatever they want?

I guess if you wanted to be arsey about it you could insist on a 11 hour price . I know about this 11 hour thing but does it say anywhere that it "Takes " 11 hours and thats it and triumph will stand by that . I must admit it confuses me a bit too.
