Has anyone fitted a Gear Change Indicator to their Bird.

Searched forum and only find a reference to one fitted to a heavily customized bike.

I've never really seen the need for one. I don't care which gear I'm in... as long as it's the right gear for whatever I'm doing. If I need a lower gear, I downshift. If I need a higher gear, I upshift. Simple. And on the T-bird I never run out of gears at either end. Having said that a lot of guys seem to like them. If you do a search for 'gear indicator' you should find quite a few options. Birdy has one.. and I think Narcisco.. and a few others.

Here's the link to the thread containing my install notes and photos...

Healtech GiPro DS Install
As you can read above, some LOVE it (I'm one of them) and some don't. As far as the device, it works as advertised and is a rock-solid piece of hardware.

Don't let anyone talk you in or out of it: review and then figure out if it's gonna work for your needs.

And here's the link to the thread where I made my installation:

GIPro Gear Indicator

There is another thread here regarding 6th gear indicator that also sheds some light onto your question.

Hope it helps.

Thanks for all the replies, the links cover everything I was looking for.

I have found myself looking for a gear after 6th!

Sometimes forget where I am, usually changing up the gears after a turn in traffic when you cannot just go up through the gears and ride into the distance.

Sometimes forget if I'm in 2nd or 3rd approaching a roundabout and don't have to stop, have on occasion dropped into 1st thinking i was in 3rd.

Part of the problem is wind noise, I cannot hear the exhaust.

The Bird rides a bit different to the S7 I have in the shed.
