OK so Bessy and me got properly acquainted at the weekend, I decided to take advantage of a beautiful day and ride to Folkestone and back from just outside Ely , by as many A roads and twisty routes as possible. Turned out to be a round trip of almost 400 miles.

First impressions , even though I'm running her in and riding her gently, the engine is very powerful. The gearbox is a gem, slick, solid and perfect. the handlebars (which I was thinking of changing) are perfect. The rear suspension (which I adjusted from setting 1 to 2, due to my size) seemed a bit hard. The saddle is not very good, I got quite a numb bum and was constantly trying to change positon. the offside ( right side !) mirror has a very nasty blind side no matter how hard I tried to find the sweet spot, (and then it just became loose). Noise from the short Tors is perfect. Headlight was surprisingly good for standard single light. Could have used a flasher button like on my old Sprint ST, didn't see any hazard lights button either ? (do TBirds not break down ?). Had to drop in to Laguna in Maidstone for a quick repair as the hoses were leaking again.

All in all I loved it, first 2 jobs will be a very small (screen) same as SeanS has already got. secondly a new saddle, I bought a new (old) standard saddle on Ebay and I'll be looking at having it refilled, reshaped and made more supportive. Look ut for another post ( coming soon) to discuss saddle options .... ( unless there is already another thread or two on the subject, please send links)

Can't wait for this weekend ....................

John

Here's a couple of links to threads about custom saddle work...

Custom Bitchn Stitchn Saddle!

Seat Recovered and ventadectamy

FYI: Fast Eddy is talking to Kisan about their Signal Minder
You can follow the progress with the Where is the turnsignal relay located? thread

I'm also gonna do an experiment to see if I can do a very simple modification of the fog/aux. light switch and jump both left and right side indicators' power leads to the aux. switch to create a 4-way hazard flasher switch. I'll put the results in a new thread, so watch out for it under Technical Talk.

Another seat option, don't have it but a friend does who has ridden cross country with it on a Honda Fury and swears by it. Kontourseat.com
