Mounted it up front behind my mini screen so I can use it for a USB or aux light etc. Also got heated glove wired in direct and sat nav, so the aux plug is always free- ish.
I used heat shrink wire fittings and an armoured cable rubber shroud for the back of the plug.

Right behind the ignition switch.
Good luck.

This is a very easy job, just undo 2 bolts holding the ignition switch in place, fit the bracket and plug in the connector which is allready in place but taped up with blue tape, behind the right hand side panel, then reffit the ignition switch with the 2 new bolts provided.
Takes max about 1/2 a hour.

1. Yes, you can plug your trickle charger straight into it (as long as you didn't rewire it to be keyed from the ignition). 2. Yes, you could jump-start another bike, but probably not very advisable to do it on a regular basis. 3. I don't know your name OR why you're here, but I'm betting it's NOT for the free beer. 4. The sky is blue because you have your head jammed in the sleeve of your blue rain hoodie again. 5. The girls are so odd because they are boys.

Wired my sat nav direct to the bat via an inline water proof fuse. Simples. Took 6 months thinking about it and ten mins to wire it. Take your seat off and the wires tuck under the tank - no need to remove tank.

Remove the left side cover (see owners manual) and wire-tied to the frame on the right side looking under the cover you will see it. A two prong plug which I believe is direct wired to the battery (+&-). I used a female/male mate to the plug to adapt a female auto accessory plug which I attach my 12 volt equipment to when needed. Best to put an inline fuse with it. Just one more way to get 12 volts when needed especially at the rear half of the bike. Example heated clothing, chargers and such used in the saddlebags or tailbags. I think this must be a way to connect a trickle charger to the bike. Best to pull the main power fuse when charging with this connection to avoid feeding power to something that shouldn't be powered as a trickle charger or the like does.

Thank you Weatherman, this is very useful information if I need to look for an additional power source.
Thanks

| | Posted : 01 May 2011 - 18:51 Post title : Re: Auxilliary Power Socket (Re: sprint5t) | | | i have been trying to fit the aux plug which seemed to be an easy job until i got to the connector.
i cannot get the connector to stretch to the plug.
i can get it through the bundle of wiring from the top right of the side panel ( panel removed) behind the flange but no further than the top rear edge of the ignition
now then i have just got the bike back from a coolant warrenty issue where they would have removed the throttle bodies to relpace the o ring gasket on the stat and the sensor under it. i dont know if they have twisted, pushed or mangled the wires between the airbox/ throttle bodies and the flange on the frame.
i found the connector between the locator for the side panel and the top right frame flange ( purple and black wiring) with a blue tape. it took well over an hour to loosen it and feed it to the back of the aux bracket only to find there is absolutly NO slack and i need about another 75mm or less of stretch
has anyone done this and found the location of the connector in a different place, had any fouling issues with the wire or found it cant reach?

what!!
WHAT SORT OF PILLOCK would sell a part that needed another part and not tell you..... ( i know the answer)
and why would it not be in the instructions??
Locate the two-pin electrical connector marked with blue tape, near the electrical connector for the motorcycle alarm. Fit the connector to the connectors on the back of the auxiliary power socket.
a visit to the dealer is imminent also as they didnt strap the battery in
thanks fo the info druid
