Yesterday was hit the mid-50s and today was in the mid to upper 60s. So after a winter in the garage, I took the Bird out and did 80 miles yesterday and 40 today.

The bike started a ran great (despite all the talk about ethanol and winter storage ) and the tires only lost 4 lbs each

It was also the first ride with the new D&Ds. Yesterday I was so-so on the pipes, but today I love them - it's all in the tune!

I'll post a review of the pipes in the exhaust section and what I discovered about the tunes in the tune section.

I hope some more of you Midwest folks got out as well.

Quite jealous... I was planning to ride today as temps were supposed to get into the 50s. Tragically, we got some freezing rain last night which hadn't melted before I had to leave for work. The town put some salt and sand on the road too... Maybe this weekend...

Todd, as I'm only 100 miles or so south of you I've had the same nice weather so I too got my bird out for the first time yesterday. I installed a cruz control for our trip later this year. Also put on a set of over sized winshield lowers as I read on this site. They help but my problem is I'm to tall in the sattle and I look over the shield by 4 inches. So I catch air from the top of the shield right at helmet level. But man, aint it great to ride!!

Big Jack, It's not what you ride,it's that you ride!!

What a wonderful day to ride. So I got the Bird SE out and rode several miles in 84 degree weather.

man that sounds as good as being gently massaged with "manly" orange oil by seven sweedish blondes and free real ale on the side

a peep on the forcast gives me a intermittent sunny day with a high of 7 C

ooh summers here

I'm hearing you! For me it is an executive decision whether to wear a jacket or not. Bugger the safety aspect! The 'bird generates a lot of heat after a few kms! I am glad I don't have to put the bike to bed for winter. For me that is the best riding weather.

The only thing that's impossible is shoving 1/2 a pound of melted butter up a wild cats arse with a red hot poker

Hey Jack,

I put a laminar lip on my screen and it helps, but isn't perfect. I'm convinced that the answer will be a smaller screen that keeps the wind off the body core, but keeps the helmet in the wind. I had a screen like this on my Bonneville and it was great. I'm debating if I want to cut down my QR screen or try a National Switchblade.

Got the bike washed up today
