Just been reading about how the short TOR pipes smooth out the bike-I wanted to hear them in person to determine how loud they are. One thing to hear a sound clip over in person. If you baby the throttle can you sneak by the guard shack of my mom's retirement community that bans loud bikes? The guard says the TBird is the best sounding (read quiet) bike he has ever seen . Some buttheads have caused a NO MOTORCYCLE rule-bikes have to pass the test now, even for visits.

Thanks,

Capt T Bird

You can tickle the throttle and have very little noise when needed with the shorties and then when you want to unleash the beast - you hear what heaven sounds like. Best of both worlds. When in town I like to let it all out.

Go for it.

I realize I could always put back on the stockers. Thanks for the input. I'm shopping for them now. Mainly for the smoothness that everyone raves about. Not that the 'Bird has much vibrations. What is a good source for them in USA
Thanks,
Capt T Bird

I must be brain dead. Where oh where does one purchase the Short TOR's? I went to the Triumph Accessory site and struck out.....Googled it...feeling dumb and admitting it.

Will the Shorty's get past indecent exposure as they are too short?

Seriously will the Shorty's give any better mpg (km/l) than the stock pipes. I honestly can't hear my exhaust at all with a full face helmet and I always wear ear plugs when on the superslab anyway. Be nice to have a good exhaust note.

I still would love to find some one in South Florida who has a set on their bike.

Ride safe,

Capt T Bird

Capt... email Chris Notte at MADSS.COM: info@madss.com. He's got the best prices in the US and shipping is free.

As everyone has said above, remember that you'll need to download and install the updated Short TORs map from the Triumph site.

PM DizzE or Daz if you need the play-by-play instructions on how to do this... either one will get you going in the right direction.

It's not for fuel effeciency. It adds power. Power drunk drivers like me like to let the power drink fuel.

A little more speed would be great until my valve service and the BB kit I did 200 miles today in heavy traffic on the Florida Turnpike and glad to have the Birds speed and nimbleness-glad I did not take the 750 Shadow. Totally nuts drivers down here, I was between 85 and 90 sandwiched in the fast lane just trying to keep up. If the Shorty's can give me more power then I'm in. But but but, where the hell do you get them?

Capt T

mine would do 85 90 easy in stock, 2 up!! cant understand why your doesnt

with the shorties its there and above with less breathing difficulties, less effort.
best reccomend - if you go that route get the freeflow filter too

they arnt a loud pipe, but they do growl a bit if you ask them too.

Oh, and many dealers have no idea what you mean by 'TORs' (which stands for Triumph Off-Road) the actual part is called 'High Flow Accessory Mufflers - short'.

Yes, I can cruise 85 2 up loaded to the gills. I'm 160 and my wife is 95 lbs so were fairly light and the bike will hold those speeds with no problem. I just would not mind the extra power for passing and getting along in Freeway traffic. I decided yesterday that it's better to be alive to pay a speeding ticket than to mope along at the legal limit 65 mph (104 kmh) and get rear ended by a tuner car with a loud bass playing. New strategy is to find the clear spots and stay there.....I'm running 85 and everyone is blowing by me. It's amazing to me. I don't have a car right now and am using the bike for a commute to visit a sick parent about 100 miles away a lot. Getting in lot of riding but rush hour on a motorcycle sucks.

To recap-
Buy pipes
change fuel mapping
install free flow filter
install big bore kit

Win lottery so I have time to ride bike.......

Owned many bikes but this one is the best by far. It's getting smoother and smoother as it's breaking in. I only have 1800 miles on it now.

Well that is what you'll get with pipes. Highway passing speeds are where the stock bird bogs down a bit. It's not that it doesn't have the power but it runs out of air at that rpm. New pipes and a filter will open it right up and make that twist of the throttle at 70 feel like you're down at 45-50. It's much more responsive. (I have the BC pipes but the TORs are simliar in effect) Now if you bump up to the BB kit then that same twist of the wrist will throw you over the ton before you know it.
