No its not the new Storm
At least not yet !!!!!
Since Chrome is not my cup of tea I figured that I would change to black. Way back before the Tbird Storm was ever thought of at least that's what I like to think.
Here are a few pictures of the progress or dismantle to put it better

How the bike is currently

Parts that will be powder coated

I had some parts tested to see what they will look like coated

I bought a gas cap from Fast Eddie and had it powder coated. - Great guy and very honest and helpful

I will be up dating this post as the progress of the conversion continues. -
Thanks to reading.

Cool project.

If I see all this parts I think I would have some problems rebuilding the bike...
So you go with double headlights, too.
What about black exhausts?

Keep 'em coming!
I too have just priced up what the STORM's black engine casing would roughly cost me: $614.76
Prices taken from Bike Bandit

- COVER, CLUTCH, ASSEMBLY $286.16*
-- Gasket, Clutch Cover $9.67

- COVER, PULLEY $139.54*

- COVER, ALTINATOR $168.91*
-- Gasket, Altinator Cover $10.48
------------------------------------------
TOTAL: $614.76
* = Chrome Cover Price!

But one after another...
Recovered seat is priority 1 for me at the moment.

mito3dc -
I've already done the double head lights as for the exhaust since I'm in Arizona and California just passed a law about exhausts I'm waiting to see what happens in this state before I go off and spend $$$ for an exhaust.
I found a place that does anodizing and will be talking to them about the stock exhaust or maybe just powder coating it black too.

Birdy68
I had the TBird's casing off and heading to PC when I found out about the STORM. I figure that PC would still be cheaper than buying all new parts specially since the only place to get them is the dealer.
The total for the PC was about $230 USD. + $120 USD for gaskets, seals, and bearings. I even PC the top engine cover with the 4 buttons.
Here are pictures of the finish product - Cases, Pulley cover, Top Engine cover

Just a word of advice... Take lots of pictures I literally had to loosen, disconnect all throttle, clutch cables to get the top of the engine cover as well as the cooling system tubes.
Find your self a good PC shop and go and talk to them.
Caution - Make sure that the pulley cover doesn't get striped with acid. The acid will eat the tin metal. It happen to me the shop was apologetic and replaced it. I should of taken a picture to show what happen.

That statement is SO TRUE that we should all have it engraved on a nice, golden plaque right near where we keep our checkbooks and credit cards (or computers).

Hey, that's a good idea. Anybody interested in buying one? I can see if I can get us a group discount at the local engraver's!

I think the blacked out engine with brushed aluminum instead of chrome would be a good look on my SE. Not sure if it would look right on another color besides red.

OK So I got the parts back and will be putting the bike some what back together this weekend.
Figure I would post pictures of the parts powder coated and then once they are on the bike.

The break calipers were also done. I have them out to a good friend Steve to put them back together I will post a picture when
I get them back. - Good thing he doesn't ride a T-Bird other wise I wouldn't get them back.
Now for the two favorite parts -

The fork tubes were oxidize black. The nickle plating had to be remove that was a hazel with the shop.

Sorry about the smudge marks count stop drooling how it came out.

Thought I would be ready to put everything back together until I found a local guy that is painting "true flames" on the bike.
Took off all the tins and dropped them off... Another couple of weeks

Well the project continues. Will update as progress is made.

Cheers

WOW Dagamed, as one who is usually a bit conservative, THAT is impressive! I'll be anxious to see the finished product. If you had just described it to me I would have nodded politely and wandered away. But even disassembled, you can tell that is going to be striking. Great concept.

Got to work on the bike a bit this afternoon with the help of a good friend Steve.
Actually he did most of the work I was the gofer/apprentice.

Triple Tree, Handle bars, and fork are installed - check it out

Will need to remove the front wheel again to install front fender but I couldn't wait to see what it looks like. Also I'll swapping the risers for the long deuce ones after I get the gas tank installed.
Break Calipers -

To feel that something got accomplished I put this on

Will follow up with the front fender and side panel pictures of the true flame I received proof from the painter today.
Now to figure out how to get them off the crackberry and onto the forum.

Time to get some

Looking good Degame, I'm just glad that we don't have severe winters here, it obviously costs a fortune when you have too much down time for riding.

I'm looking forward to seeing how the mods look. The inspiration for new ideas some of you guys get is amazing. One day I hope to have an epiphany of my own for a cool mod. Until then .................................

Its been a bit since my last post. I've been busy with work and just not having time to put it back together. I got the tins back this Friday and worked on it a bit Saturday before heading back out on the road.

Well, I'm not one for flames, but it looks like great quality work, you've got there.

And I DO like the way the front end came out... have been wondering what all that chrome up front would look like in black. Bet you're itching to get the whole ride back together, but don't forget to post photos for us when she's done.

at first i thought that it was going to look crap

then as the pics scrolled it started to appeal,
particularly the effect from the front mudgaurd to the rad
not too sure if the tank is too much flame but the front is looking hot

methinks nicolas cage will be envious
