On my Tbird i occasionaly get a surge in power when throttling on , its happenned a few times now , Instance i am going into a bend and ease off throttle , when i apply a little throttle back on , the bike has lunged forward like i throttled hard .

The first couple of times it was quite scary , it does'nt happen often , but it does happen , anyone else experienced this . I know damm well if i take it to the dealer they will ride it and it will not happen , its only intermeidietly it happens .

The only mods to the bikes mechanics are the shortie pipes , and the ownload to go with them ..

TuneECU lets you reset the Throttle Position Sensor.

Also, 12 min Adaption (everybody sing!!!)
is very much about TPS trims.

i blame the tune, my bike does the same thing, i thinks its because these bikes are tuned so lean and stock tunes just plain suck.

I had that, but it went away after Adaption. If I commanded a slight decel, for traffic, say, it would surge enough to upset my fore-aft balance. It felt like a totally bogus slump or something in the tune and I used to think it was.

Now that I've looked at it in more detail, I'm not seeing any place in the fueling maps that could cause the surge.

timing? or maybe a glitch in triumphs duel map system, slow throttle for one and fast throttle for another

The timing curve is a possibility, because, as you say, dual maps here also. One map is based on T Position
and the other on MA Pressure. You also have the F-L, which are separate fuel maps for FASTER throttle
or LOWER throttle. Cross-over in my set-up was 24% TP for F-L switch. (now 0%)

So, each cylinder has 3 maps. F, L, I. Six main maps in the ECU.

Then there are 2 trim maps, F trim, L-trim

However, there is only one, A/F, hope for the best, map. That doesn't control anything, except it lists 14.5 as the idle target.
But, with narrow band Ox, this is not even a guess, off-idle. Has no trim table, i.e., useless for tuning.

So, the way they smooth all this, apparently, is with yet another table.

Adaption table is more trim, based on TP....worth a try.

the more i find out about these ecu's the more i think a powercommander is not going to be good, and that we need some good tuneboy or tune ecu tunes by knowledgable tuners.

that's what happened to me. Looked at the big picture and sorted out my dis-trust of the bike's tune.
Now I see it a marvel. But, it takes some special knowledge to improve it.

Seriously, I bought iPhone apps and studied A/F tuning, bought DynoTune, Sim SW to see if anything at all, was possible.
Lucky, there is room for some percent improvement with a full Stage 1 tune on top of the TOR tune,
but without a good, modern, low inertia dyno, I couldn't figure out a way to proceed, even though I was
looking at My Map.

I managed to find a fellow geek in Marc Salvisberg 75 miles away with a state of the art dyno.

Daz seems to like the upgraded tune, but it took all day in the dyno shed to get it and then some time of mine to
smooth it a bit.

Stage 2 is cams and valve/port flow. I'll be back to Marc if I get that far.
