Any good threads or hints? Have read the one below on wheels and have read the Triumph page at Link
I posted the below on the Triumph Rats forums .. it would be good to get a sticky or something on this

Never have been one for cleaning and detailing bikes....usually a bit of a hose and some car cleaning suds and away I go

Now I have the t/bird and I love the way it looks when its cleaned. Now I want to learn how to a decent job on cleaning. Lets break it down to paint , chrome and wheels

1/ Paint.... well not much paint on the bike, tank , 2 mud guard and 2 side panels . Whats the best cleaner to get it clean and sparkling ( the Phantom Black looks great when it sparkles ) ? Now more importantly is polish, never have used polish on a car or bike and basically have nfi about it. Does repeated polishing stuff the paint ?

2/ Chrome and the other chrome looking parts , at the moment I just use the same suds as I do for the paint ( product is a car wash .. ARMOR ALL Wash and Wax ). Whats the best way to keep the chrome looking good ? I actually brought some Metal Polish Liquid ( autosol ) which doesnt have any instructions in English on the back so I havent used it. Like I said have no idea about cleaning chrome etc. Is this stuff ok to use on the exhaust pipes ?

3/ The chrome or whatever it is on the wheel looks discoloured when you look at it . Is cleaning this the same as the rest of the chrome or silver looking parts ?

its true, the older you get the crankier you get

btw: part of the Triumph page states this Caution

The use of silicone products such as WD40 will cause discolouration of the chrome and must not be used. Similarly, the use of abrasive cleaners such as Solvol Autosol will damage the system and must not be used.

i use silicon spray all over the engine and swing arm and forks and it has never left any trace of discolouration
everyone that looks at my bike says it still looks like brand new.
