I don't know about the rest of you guys, but I'm not a big fan of the stuff that MCN does... especially that Adam Child guy. Lot's of flashy camera angles and jump-cut edits, but not a lot of real context.

Maybe it's just me, but it seems like they would really like to be as cool as the BBC's "Top Gear".

What a wanker. Talk about following the sheep. Triumph as a company have a good 20 years on HD. (ok - it started with push bikes). I'm not saying that the bird should have won (but it would) but to go for the 'tassle clad bro badass i'm on a harley' image over comfort and power, and quality I may add - total bollocks.

But thats sport bike 'I'm so f*cking cool' riders for you.

You left out him saying both the 8ball and TB had better brakes too.

I read the full article and found it really funny. It gerenrated a few letters from unhappy Triumph riders pointing out the obvious flaw in the arguement - heritage! MCN voted the Hammer S the best cruiser for 2010 - thrid place behind the T'Bird and the Rocket Roadster (and I have ridden all three). The crusier market is small in the UK and the commentary, reviews etc etc reflects that. Better judge would be an American publication where they know what they are talking about.

If I recall they all prefered the ride on the T'Bird and Sands prefered the basic platform of the Victory for custom work. What won them (the so called celbs) over was the image and that for me summed it up nicely. I'd rather the image tarts didn't buy Triumph. Personally I think HD's look good but are dissapointing to ride and I am there is something about Victory that is not to my taste (and I really wanna like both brands).

All in all it is a matter of opinion and we are right and they are wrong

BTW - I like MCN even though some weeks it takes 2 mins to read (1 in 3 are really good).

I suppose if you are insecure and have a need for a self esteem boost by an object then go out and spend more for less...

What a load his argument was "although it does not handle, accelerate, or brake as well as the others it has the image so it wins" LOL

but thats what harley builds its brand on,
some of the custom jobs around here are fantastic to look at and i suppose if your toddling along the prom what does it matter if your brakes are left wanting or you cant manage to out accelerate a pedal bike. its just not someting you need. aspects of "proper" biking pale into insignificance when your popping along, wild hog kit on and emulating the image
a lad who rode with us on a harley just couldnt make the trip to the lakes when the weather broke, had to turn back as his bike just didnt handle, but he rides it for the image and thats his joy. that said another lad on a glide managed all the twists and turns.

but for a motorbike critic to class other bikes like triumph and vision losers because of that is simply absurd

Well, there it is, stright from the horse's mouth. How many times has it been said harley guys buy harleys for one reason with little to no concerns regarding performance in any way shape of form. But you can say it for years and people will never truly listen or believe fully till they hear it from the source. So there toy go....harley riders admit thier bikes are inferior in most ways, just not in the one way thats important to them....no other bike has the same name on the tank.

Thats the difference between them and us. you could slap the HD logo on a steaming pile of horse shit and the harely guy would try and mount the pile and head for the nearest bar. A triumph rider would just say, well, it's been nice, but this smells like shit, then walk off to find another brand of bike to be enamored with.

A freaking mazing- guy (bloke) says the other 2 bikes are BETTER but he thinks the better bike is the HD. WTF. The Road Glide is a potent cruiser for sure but not as good as the Thunderbird-let me see. The better bike is cheaper-have to figure that one out.

/scratches head in total confusion !!! Did that bloke actually say all that ? Will I wake up in a minute and find out I am dreaming ? I know the world has gone mad but this just beggers belief.

At least say "The Victory and Thunderbird are better bikes than the HD but I just prefer Harleys " Even if he has got his facts wrong. In fact he dosnt know his facts at all it seems lol . I think Ill forget about that one and just move on its just too moronic to think about.

Oh, yeah... saw this one before. I just let it go. Typical poser tool, shame he's supposed to actually review bikes though.

Yeah, I remember reading that article, I think when I was visiting the Ace Motorcycle Cafe in London last year, and left with a pretty bad taste in my mouth (coulda been because of what they (the brits) call mustard there) after reading the article. This guy should not have been within a mile of a computer writing reviews on bikes he has NO CLUE on.

Well horseradish (in severe moderation of course ) actually makes some things pretty good, like a nice big greasy pastrami sandwich. I think maybe if you put horse radish on a Harley you might just find that you'd have....um....um...well I guess you'd have a harley with horseradish on it.
