She's a beauty! Even better is when I sat on it, the bars are angled back more and has nice risers, better then the thunderbird. They tastefully left some things still chrome, but the bike looks great IMO. They also had a Blue/White Thunderbird on display & both bikes were getting alot more attention but the blue was getting much more.
I looked around and found several helmet companies were making some real nice half helmets in sold colors with a stripe, but NO blue one's with a white stripe so I'm out of luck.
The storm headlights look like they'll bolt right up to the T bird but they would have to be chromed on the housings to remove the black. My GF was like: "No, No, No! You have a blue T bird & you're keeping it!"
That new Ducati Diavel? is HOT, great looking bike! But at nearly $20,000 after the dealer gouge I'll stick with my B king.

It does look good . My dealer has one in and it does look the dogs bits. Sticking to my B&W - so classy. A friend of mine has a B King - lovely bike. He has managed to get 230bhp out of it so far and still lots to do at it.

yeah i had a good peruse and sit on one. the bars are excellent

re the lights, they are side fitted, looks like you could buy the 675 set up if you wanted chrome as they appear to be the same lights and a bracket from the storm
voila twin lights straight no nonsense fit

i could get away with the black mount but b/w birds might want to colourise or chrome the bracket.

I'm not a fan at all of blacked out bikes. It's ok, but i'd never have one as long as the regular bird is available. That said, i had a thought the other day. Those who had speedmasters and wanted a "bigger speedy" when the bird came out can now get much closer to that.....buy the storms engine side covers and you have the speedy s all black engine. I remember Birdy doing a photoshop of that and it looked real good. I happen to like that, i just don't like black forks and shocks and all that. I also like the chrome as much if not more, and it's much easier to keep looking new so that alone will keep me from doing that. But at least now whoever wants a Tbird with the speedy s black engine can buy a regular bird and the storm's cases and have just that. I know some will say you could paint the chrome. But that would mean a lot of work, unless you remove the chrome theres a good chance it will peel no matter how much you scuff it up first, and the paint texture and look probably won't be the same.
Anyways, just a thought.

yeah i was thinking the same (not the speedy link but swapping cases)

the black bike would look good with some of the storm features esp the fluid cover.

My dealer plated up one as a demo bike and I took it out for an hour last week.

Loved the engine not keen on the handlebars
Personally, I would like to see it totally black - including the exhausts.

However, it did convince me to now get the BB kit installed on my Bird.

My dealer has both the shiny black storm and the matt storm . I dont think the shiny one works. The matt black one looks good tho and it should definatly have the pipes done as well . Arnt the bars just the wide bars?

Agree with you on the color and on the pipes. Not yet decided definitively but maybe will have them black too.

I ordered the shiny one myself- Mainly because I haven't been able to see any pics of the matte. (still cant find any online!)

I was very tempted by the thought of the matte and thought it might even be a little more durable than the soft black paint. The drama was I was a little dubious about buying a bike I hadn't seen in the flesh, and one I hadn't seen anywhere at all was just too much of a leap of faith.

My dealer also said that the matte black bikes have a tendency to look like crap after they leave the showroom floor which I must admit swayed me a bit.

Now I can only hope I don't see it and think "what have I done" In any case I'm sure I'll be grinning from ear to ear once I get onto it.

Will post some pics in around three weeks from now.

Sean

That would make sense when you think about it....you can't polish matte. If it gets scratchy you can't polish it because it would get shinier spots and look horrible. Theres really no way to maintain it as it ages. With gloss you can polish scratches and generally aged looking paint till it looks new again.

Not sure about that, a firend of mine has a black denim V-Rod...apart from the knucklhead at the HD dealer who tried to polish it with pledge one day it looks fine. Having said that the quality of the finish will degarde quicked than a standard auto paint

yes, but what i'm saying is when it scratches (swirl marks, spider webbing, etc) theres no way to polish them out. Pledge is not a polish, it's a liquid wax or such. (which by the way has silicones in case you ever wanted to paint it again) A polish is an abrasive that removes a very thin layer of the paint where the fine scratches are. If you do that with matte it will make the finish look uneven, or in other words shiny in some spots to a degree. So all you can do is use coatings lim pledge or any number of other detailers like the liquid performance stuff i'm always raving about.
