Got a nice little tour planned for the summer with some mates old and new.

We have 5 T'birds, 3 Americas, 3 Tigers, 1 Rocket Tourer, 1 Sprint and 3 non-Triumphs making all or part of the trip. From this forum Eight and I will be on the full tour with Tatch and Birdy joining for the German, Austrian and Slovenian legs.

The tour will include a night at Tridays Link

2,000 miles, 7 countries, great riding and a few beers!

Looks/sounds like a lot of great fun! I'll be on my US tour around the time you are doing this one... try to post some photos as you go and I'll do the same. Though, I have the feeling yours may be more interesting than mine, since I'll be solo for most of it.

Yes I am looking forward to it. Got a great group together and travelling Europe is a real treat with it's variation of culture, language, food, beer and great roads (generally very biker friendly).

Next year I wanna do what you are doing (and, like you, on a T'Bird).

Have a fantastic trip and post your pics - looking forward to seeing them.

Wish I had one of them shirts...So Cool!

Maybe another time.

Are you doing the Glossglockner? Link Can certainly recommend. My Bird might have been the first one up it back in 2009.

Can't do this one but looking forward to pie run instead.

21 thundering to Bled including 6 Birds.

The impregnation of special FM chemical into the shirts is gonna be an interesting experiment. Especially with the ladies garments. Gonna be an interesting trip.

Mrs1600 would prefer black. On your head be it. Your already in big trouble after the 'cleaners' thing.

You were a pioneer Sean - I remember the shots you took of your trip and thought to myself - I'm havin' some of that! And so Thunder to Bled was born!

There are so many options of routes through the Julian Alps on the Austrian/Italian/Slovenian boarder. I don't like those long tunnels so heading towards the German speaking Italian town of Bressanone then spend the day riding on to of the world.

Looking forward to the Scottish Highlands.

Wprd of caution in preperation for trip. If not first time to Europe, don't forget the following. I wasn't stopped but met 2 others who were. On spot fines per item not carried.

Hi Vis Vest (for breakdown only), Toolkit (as if you can do anything?), puncture repair kit, First Aid kit. Emergency Triangle is a requirement. As I couldn't find one small enough this was left out, sort guidance but all unclear as to whether required on bikes.

Regards

So far it looks like 19 bikes and 23 bikers will be joining us for all or part of the 1,872 miles. Dave Porter, the editor of The Triumph Owners MCC, Nacelle will be joining us and all being well will include the feature of the tour in a magazine later in the year.

Riding in I0 Mainland European Countries - Belgium, Luxembourg, France, Germany, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Austria, Italy, Slovenia and Holland. With some great rides including Ardennes Forest, Black Forest, Tridays, Alpine High Road, Julian Alps, Eagles Nest and much, much more.

In all we will have 8 party nights.

CAN'T WAIT!!

Good ones I hope. I am a bugger for taking hundreds of pics everywhere I go, and am now in the process of training Mrs1600 to use the camera as we ride for some good road pics of riders.

Man, I'd love to join you guys for at least some stint of your journey. As I might written before, my aunt lives in Schwelm, Germany and I've planned to visit her in the near future but it seems my financial situation is pretty bad this summer due to bb-kit installation and few other accessories that set me back some 2000 euros If there's even a tiniest ray of light in my wallet in june, I'll be posting it here.

Work under progress... Finnlines, the company whose ships go from Helsinki (southern Finland) to Travem??nde (northern Germany) wants mind blowing 800 euros for a boat trip..... Motorcycle is for free so that's basically only price of the cabin with me inside of it. Does not include meals either...

I tried to play it a different way and checked what it would cost to go to Sweden first, drive thru it and then take a ferry from Malm?? to Travem??nde. Prices change 13.06.2011 to summertime prices so it would cost at least as much as the Finnlines wants. Few of my friends have connections here and there and they're asking if they can get a discount from Finnlines but haven't heard of them since sunday.

800 is just too much right now to add on several days in hotel + gas, etc. But all hope is not gone yet; we'll see what my friends come up with.

Sam, a good friend of mine (also on the Thunder to Bled tour) has strong links to Finland. I will ask him the cheapest and quickest way accross the Baltic sea. When I went to Helsinki I sailed from Kiel (Germany) but that cost me one of my kidneys and my eldest child.

I suppose Tallinn is not an option

If there are ferry routes from Tallinn to Germany, it's not that bad actually if the price is right. Via Baltica is no an option for me as fellow bikers attend to say, traveling thru latvia and lithuania by yourself is not a good idea. With group of bikers it's okay but not alone. I checked aFerry.co.uk but Estonia - Germany is not listed on their site. I'll keep searching alternative options.

Latvia and Lithuania can get a bit spicy on your own Sam. Sent a message to my mate to see if he can help.

Is it a freight only company or does they offer cabins also for travelling? If so, I'm more than interested if the price is a little more reasonable than Finnlines. City doesn't matter at all as long it's in the surrounding area (Germany, Poland, Denmark).
