I picked my bike up today, i had the BB kit installed and the chrome fork legs fitted(under warranty)
as soon as my mechanic drove it out of the workshop you could hear the difference
much deeper in the note at idle,so i had a good look over the bike just to check things and then went in and payed the bill.
got on the bike and have just got home .a good 3 hour ride and nearly 250 km
well all i can say is f**k this bike is great now totally different
here is what i think has changed
1x starts straight away (i think this had to do with the broken decompression lever on the old cam)
2x no top end noise very very quiet now
3x better clutch grab or take up if you call it that
4x torque,torque,torque and more torque
5x it does seem smooth through the rev range
i haven't wound it out yet but it fells like it just wants to keep pulling hard all the way
hopefully tomorrow i will get another 200km plus
then i can really see what it can do.

Great to hear your side of the story

Somehow I feel a little 'left out' as I had my BB done just after 1000 km - so I never really felt what the stock 'Bird was like.
Anyways - find yourself the time and do those km... Get the oil changed and tell us more...

Glad to hear you love it. I've been spouting off at both forums about it to everyone with a 1600 who will listen to me. I can't imagine going back to the 1600. This weekend will be the first weekend in a while with warm dry weather and i intend to get to the 600 mile point and change out the break in oil sunday. At that point i believe it will feel noticeably stronger. The place where it most impresses me is on the freeway between 75 or 80 on up. Seems like i twist the throttle and i'm just gone so quickly and i'm in the 100+ range in the blink of an eye.

yes i cant wait to get it on the freeway(pity our speed limit is 110km)
i think it will make a good difference with good oil back in it(who am i kidding if the bike stays the same as it is now i will be happy)

I agree which is why i am so anxious to get it done. I have the oil and i'm prepared to ride to 600 saturday and change it sunday. I remember putting valvoline dino oil in my speedmaster after always having used mobil 1 synth and i was sorely disappointed to find the bike ran like a dog with that oil. Dumped it a week or less later because i couldn't stand the loss of power and it immediately was back with the mobil. So i imagine the break in oil which has no friction modifiers has got to be at least as detrimental to performance if not more.
