Hey all its been a while!!

I had my bike stored without moving/starting since Oct 2023 due to some health issues and short Canadian riding season. I got her out of the garage today and after cleaning it up and changing the gas/oil/filter and airing up the tires tried to take it for a ride only to find that my rear brakes are completely gone. The pedal has no resistance and does nothing. The front brakes are still working without issue. I looked under the bike before moving it and didnt see any evidence of fluids or leaks.

Any ideas ? I dont have a trailer and the Triumph shop is 30kms away...might be sketchy ride with fronts only !!

I had a similar problem, a couple of years ago. After the winter lay up, I had no rear brake, bleeding the rear system did bring it back but again after the next winter lay up, no rear brake. I ended up bying a rear brake master cylinder kit from Fast Eddie, and replaced the rubber seals this winter, the ones that came out we very worn, Hope this helps. The Triumph part number is T2022110.

No, it's pretty strait forward, if you haven't got a one person bleeder you will need a second person to pump the brake pedal while you open the bleed nipple, and be sure not to let the reseviour get too low or you'll end up undoing all the good your doing. Good luck.

I have speed bleeders on mine, but a way you can do a one man bleed is just fill a jar with some fluid and make sure the tube is well below the fluid. That way the old fluid comes out and when you release the lever it can't suck air in because it would just be sucking fluid. Only a fraction as much will go back in so it;s not like you will be sucking a lot of old fluid back in. You'll have to pump the brakes a little longer to get the system fully clean but it's not much more and it eliminates a 2 man op. Speed bleeders are best tho. Any time u can make maintenance quicker and easier it makes it less likely u will procrastinate.
