Yeh - I would miss them too.

Not sure if we have helped Truss out here. This post has soon degenerated down to beer talk and got a long way from the original post ............. again . Sorry Truss we are listening mate.

Truss, I was at the Calgary Motorcycle show today. Talked to the BMW guys for awhile. (Didn't see any Triumph guys, except the sales dudes from the local dealership.) Anyways I asked the BMW guy about SW Motorrad. He said the closure was due to poor local management but that BMW DEFINITELY wants to keep a presence in the Okanagan and they are presently interviewing for a new dealership which he assured me would be up and running by spring. He said he didn't know about the other brands but strongly suspects Triumph and Ducati are doing the same. So there IS hope for you.. hang in there!

I am absolutely sure that is the case. Just wished that opportunity landed on my doorstep.

Thanks for the info Fordster! Sounds promissing. The Okanagan is a pretty big market so now I have an even better reason to be hopeful someone will pick up the brand.

And guys.........don't worry about the thread turning into rants about beer, women, politics etc. I would expect nothing less.......I've been lurking around here a while and know what to expect.

Truss, you've probably seen this but the new Triumph dealership (+ BMW and Ducati) in the Okanagan is opening soon! I'll be sure to check it out next time I'm down there, probably soon after the snow clears in the pass in a month or so (I hope). Always good to see another Triumph dealership opening!

Thanks for the link Fordster. Yes, I just heard about this and I'm very relieved. Unfortunately I have to wait for them to open before I can ride because I need some work done (rear pads, tires etc.). Too bad because the streets have been swept around here already and I'm itching to get out there!

On a side note, like you I ordered some dresser bars from Madss and will install them shortly. Fast service and a great price!

If you are out this way drop me a pm and if the timing is right maybe we can hook up for an Okanagan ride.

Sounds good, I'll take you up on that. My mom and dad live in Vernon so I usually get down that way a few times through the summer.

So if your bike holds up and nothing serious breaks you should be able to get by.

Daz, I'm a bit concerned about your comments re valve adjustments and shimming etc. .... one of the appeals of buying this bike was the big service intervals and the very little amount of stress on the engine. Is this something that is common place to you because of high mileage or some other reasons, is this common place to everyone ?

Anyone fancy a "proper" pint ????

John, I believe Daz is referring to the valve adjustment that's part of the 12,000 mile scheduled service.
