I am having a relatively good time in London despite the snow. I visited the Ace Motorcycle Cafe and bought some more shirts...but where were the bikers. When I was there in August...you could barely walk thru the parking lot...yesterday...snow covered parking lot, one van and a couple of cars...but my son and I enjoyed a good burger and chips.

Hopefully tomorrow we can get out of here...London is a very expensive place to stay in especially if you are not planning on it. At least in the last 10 minutes I heard two planes either landing or taking off (I believe landing) so hopefully Heathrow will get back to operating normally today and get some of this backlog out.

It's really weird visiting London, riding the underground and hearing most foreign languages being spoken about 70% of the time.

We enjoyed WWRY on Saturday night and may try and get in one more performance tonight.

Wish us luck on getting out of here tomorrow or we'll be looking for somewhere else to stay.

If you do get stuck, don't hesitate to contact me for a free room for a night or two. I live 75 miles north of London but the roads are fast & clear andwe're accessible by train. If there is a problem, please consider it.

...and if Cambridge or the Airport floor isn't appealing I have a spare room in York (if you can make it).

Very best of luck!

I prefer York, up there for a Gentleman's Day of Culture last week. He can have my place, I'll be there for Christmas.

Thanks guys for the generous offers of hospitality. I ended up staying in my hotel one additional day (Air France apparently couldn't fly out of Paris to come pick me up on Tuesday so that flight ended up being cancelled) and flew out on Wednesday evening and arrived in Dubai on a straight thru flight on Thursday morning.

My son did make it out on schedule on Tuesday morning and was home later that evening (after a 5 hour stopover in Dallas/Ft. Worth).

After arriving in Dubai I was able to catch my comany's charter flight to Kandahar and was there by 2:30 pm (1430). I ended up having some luck this morning and was able to get "home" for the holidays as I was able to catch an Army bird around 9 am. They even fixed my generator and I will have heat and lights for Christmas.

Again thanks for the kind offers, I appreciate them.

Had a Gentleman's Culture Day yesterday. A group of us looking for insiration from each other for gifts ideas for girl friends and/or wifes. We all decided that we needed more "culture" to liberate the imagination and get some juices flowing. Needless-to-say I now have a sore head and no gifts - am now officially in panic mode. Next time you are up for some Culture Ted let me know and will meet you with a few fellow Trumpets.

Maybe next time Dennis. There are better places in the UK than London in my opinion (though I do like it).

Discovered The Bar Convent (oldest nunnery in UK) is opening for breakfasts now, marvellous full cardiac arrest breakfast. The day became The Day of the Pub with a Roaring Fire. Starre Inn - Snickleways Inn(what was it called?) - Golden Slipper - Black Swan - Kings Arms - Punch Bowl.

We also discussed gifts for females

I may be able to help you a little with the gift buying. Girls are different to us; when they say "Don't bother getting me much." trust me, they don't mean it. Gold, diamonds & silk are GOOD materials. Conversely, a cheapish bunch of flowers is a good thing, especially if you tell her the arrangement means something girly. Even better, make something - pop-up cards are a GOOD thing (as long as it's not pornographic - yes, she wasn't impressed with the rabbit with an immense penis - but the sentiment was sincere). DON'T make any gift buying decisions with more than 6 units of alcohol inside. Concert tickets work too. It occurs to me I may be too late.

Years of failure have formulated these simple rules.
