Someone is telling me the street bob is more than 1.5 seconds faster in the 1/4 faster. Those who have one or somehow know the definite truth, enlighten me. I just find this kinda crazy. Is there even a HD that does 12.5 besides the vrod?

If it's not stock then all we could do is measure it with a stop watch.

If it's stock there was an article in Motorcycle News that I had bookmarked when I was comparing bikes.

From what I can see it's 13.5 sec...the same as the T16.

The only thing it does better than a Thunderbird is that it's a HD and for some that is very important- for others:

I traded my street bob ,in on the T bird . Personally i don't think the Bob in stock form is has quick has the Bird , After i done the pipes , the air cleaner and the race tuner on the bob it gave me a lot more. But then i think it only brought it to around the same has the Bird with just the shortie pipes nothing else.

Funny enough though , i sort of think jumping off at the lights for that initial take off the bob i after it had been tickled was perhaps quicker than the Bird for ther first 50 yards or so .

There would'nt be much in it but like i said that is with the bob tickled , stock the birds quicker.

I have a friend with a Street Glide and another with a Dyna Fat Bob. I can smoke them both off the line, but the Street Glide handles the twisties with me. He's not afraid to scrape his boards either. I can pull longer in each gear than both of them as well. They're both good looking bikes even though I think the Street Glide is better looking than the fat Bob. Especially in matte black. They like my scooter but say they wouldn't own it because they are die hard HD guys. Both have modded their bikes as have I. They have 96 cu. in motors, intakes, pipes, and tuned motors. I have the BC Hog Slayers, seat pan mod, and the 1700 tune on my 1600.

I think 1/4 mile times come down to track, rider, weather, and reaction times. Same with street light to street light as most of us do.

Capt T

checked out your link. gives the quarter for the hd but not the tb16

argyle on t.rat "My best times were all between 13.5-13.6, hitting about 96 mph at the 1/4. "
lonerider quotes "Cycle World just did a comparison test with the H.D. Wide Glide and in their test the Thunder Bird did 13.24/97.31. In the same issue they did the Bonnie compared with an 883 Sportster and Honda Sadow RS. The Bonneville did 13.24/100.66 . So.........for those looking at the numbers there you are. That's the August 2010 issue for anyone who wants to check it out.

i had the thrux engine which pulled but nothing like the bird, so how the bonnie got similar to the bird!! interesting figures

yeah, i saw that and that started a whole pissing match between the Tbird and bonnie owners who were chomping at the bit to find a reason why the Tbird isn't as good. My feeling is the bonnie would be a lot more efficient off the line because as hard as the Tbird pulls, the wheel would just smoke trying to get a good start and it would lose precious time at the line. Too much weight from a dead stop to get power to the pavement. A roll on would likely show very different results.

It's mainly that mike guy. I think one of his body parts is unusually small and he needs to know his bike is the be all and end all to make up for it.

Never really got that argument myself . Might as well have had a discussion on why a TBird is better than am R1 . Totally different machines not comparible in any way other than they both have two wheels.
