Ok, so we've had our bit of negative fun, how about some positive fun (yes I know, sounds impossible but I've been told that it is in fact possible)

What accessory, Triumph or aftermarket, do you feel is the best accessory for our bike. Be it on a value for money sort of argument or effect on the bike's look or feel, or it's just because you really like your merkin.

----------------------------------

As for me I have to cheat (yeah I know, right out of the gate... I am not a good example here) I have to list two. First and foremost is the BB kit. Nothing else changes the bike to the degree the BB kit does. It's tone is angrier, the lop at idle is slower and more purposeful, the torque is aggressive and the top end is opened up. It's a different bike.

The second for me is the drag bar. As much as the bb kit changes the guts and soul of the bike the drag bar changes the looks, ergonomics and handling. The bike looks much more aggressive now, I fit on the bike much better now that I'm laid out a bit on the bike and the steering response is quick and sharp. While never a small bike the narrow bars also help me to slip into areas I couldn't before as well. All for a $35 bar, I'd say this one wins on bang for the buck.

Ok, so let's hear yours

Yeah , nice one Thatch.

I can relate to both of those. Between reading your post and salivating over Daz's lusting of his BB install, I'm getting itchy to wanna get it....but I can't just now...got alot happening in the next twelve months that will be straining the finances somewhat. If I did I think I would be sleeping in the garage with the bird. ( maybe that wouldn't be such a bad trade off )

For me it was the next best thing. Tuneboy setup with a dyno. Like for you, it transformed the bike for me. She just wants to howl anywhere up from 2500 rpm, and really makes spirited riding that much more fun. Together with my Foran pipes and decat it also comes with a beautiful roar that I can't get enough of.

The pipes were expensive by pipe standards, but worth the money. The tuneboy and dyno were definitely the ducks guts as far as value for money ($600 total). But geez, I'd love to do it again with an extra 100cc and some lumpier cams. (as i wipe the saliva from my chops) hmmmm..

Oh...I'll go one more and cheat....The additional of fork valves and slightly stiffer springs up front (total $450 installed) also made a big difference to the ability of enjoying spirited riding and much less peg scrape in the twisties, especially under hard braking in bends. Second best mod I done.

Lou

IMO,and after all the years I've been mounted on two wheels and with all due respect, [excluding hot rod parts,BB KIT,air filter, tune packages, etc.],the most important accessaries to me,are the windscreen and the front and rear crash bars, aka dresser bars as they've been referred to. WHY? Because if you should lose your balance [it happens]and you drop it or it falls over for whatever reason,or some nit wit tags ya from the side and that happens more often than you might think, the bars take the hit instead of the tank, the saddle bags, the handle bars, the engine,or YOUR LEGS.Follow me?

The windscreen blocks bugs, rain, cooler temps, snow, ice pellets, and or other debris from hittin ya in the face, upper torso,or more specifically, your eyes. You could wear goggles, but goggles a lone won't protect your upper torso or face from the elements.Anyways, that's my two cents, FWIW.lol Dave!!!

2 week vacation somewhere warm!

Davetac1-I gotta say a big +1 on your answer. It's not a matter if your going to drop your bike, it's a matter of when.

As far as protection from an accident I submit this info for your consideration-a book mark from my BMW days-Link

I agree totally about the windshield. If your a short distance rider it does take away from the experience of no shield for short distances. But after 50 miles at 70 mph your wishing they were there-I'm always amazed at what hits my face shield behind the windscreen. I must be weird but I actually love the Triumph Roadster screen-I love the way it pops off in a few seconds..great design. Almost makes up for the crappy design of the bags on the SE.

Stay warm and be safe, Merry Christmas to all, (plus all other pagan , religious and secular holiday greetings)

This is a tough one and I'll stick the accessories that I have.

For looks I like my T-bars best.

For utility I like the combination of the luggage rack and the Iron Rider Overnight bag. I like this combination because the bag fits so nicely on the rack AND is big enough that I no longer need to keep my saddle bags on, which for me is huge because the bike looks so much nicer without them.

After my wife, who says, "If you want it, buy it", I would say my Highway Lights and BC Hog Slayers.

The Highway Lights make riding at night so much nicer and safer. The Hog Slayers let her breath and sound sweet. Funny thing is, for having a mechanical baffle they have gotten louder as I put more miles on them.

Same as willy....BB and tors, short tors of course. However, if not for the tors i'd have sorta been with thatch on this, tho it would have been the Tbars and BB, not thatch's broomstick. So the Tbars will have to take 3rd, but i love the way the bike looks far more with them.

I would have to say the driving lights, dresser bars with highway pegs and the rider backrest.
