Good question. I never really thought of naming it, I usually refer to it as "the bike" or "my t-bird"

I'm interested to see what everyone else calls theirs.

Mine is "Brutus". I'd have to say popeye was my fav cartoon as i kid, but i don't see the name popeye as being particularly cool. And now that he's BB'ed the name is even more appropriate. Of course it's all moot unless i get him back from the shop, which at this point isn't likely to happen before i die of old age.

Daz: not to tweak you, but just back from two rides this weekend on my 1700 Bluebird Burbler (BB) with the SHORTY pipes: up Mt Lemmon, dragging pegs.

then to and from inlaws: roast lamb shanks, red wine, and no police on sunday evening.

wore a new Vanson.

and a new Lunar/Davida full face helmet with flip up face and windshield.

all excellent.

sure glad I was not fidgeting at home watching football teams lose....

My wife & daughter are prone to giving names to inanimate objects, and there's a danger they'll call a manly thing like a motorbike "Cynthia" or "Amelia". So I get in first with something alliterative, like "Theodore Thunderbird", or "Ted".

Couldn't think of a name for the Speed triple so for a while it was called "The Man With No Name", which predictably became "Clint" (Eastwood).

Is it manly to anthropomorphise possessions?

I call my bike "Aunty Jack" after an Australian TV character of the 70's.

Aunty Jack was a Man dressed as a women, with an obvious moustache and a boxing glove permanatly on her right hand. She had some offsiders called "Flash Nick from Jindavic", Kid Eager and a rather well endowed young women called "Flange Desire". You had to be there I guess. They were possibly Australias answer to Monty Python or the Goodies.

Aunty Jack was rather aggressive, professed to be "Big, Bold and Tough" and often threatened to "Rip your bloody arms off" to anyone who treated her with disrespect.

My thunderbird, especially now it has the BB and short TORS could probably do the same if not treated with the utmost respect.

Of course it is manly to anthropomorphise material possesions, sailors have been doing it for years!

Regards Frank

ha Haah...i thought you may respond Jamie.

You know, a mate of mine suggested that when I got the bike, but I thought the same as you. Maybe one of should get it before someone steals it on us. It'll cost you $170/year though ! I wonder if you can get with stops or a space...F.A.B or F A B.

Thunderbirds was a tv series with puppets in the 70s (wikipedia has a lot of information) and instead of saying ok they use to say FAB. You had to have watched it to really understand.

Seems silly to tell it, but, tiz true. I had a big clean up to get a space for my new crew mate and
I muttered it from time to time.

So, it's just a cheap shot garage nickname that stuck. And, bad luck to change it even if he wanted to.
Ah, those early days.

No name for mine. I've coined the big bore black birds (say that three times fast) as 'Ravens' but that isn't a name per say. I never use it as one at least. I guess I've never been much of a vehicle namer. The ability to put 'my' in front of what ever model I own seems like more than enough personalization to me.
